Waiting on Wednesday (21) + Cover Reveal

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

PODs

                                    Michelle Pickett
                                    Release date: June 1st, 2013
by Spencer Hill Press

Seventeen-year-old Eva is a chosen one. Chosen to live, while others meet a swift and painful death from an incurable virus so lethal, a person is dead within days of symptoms emerging. In the POD system, a series of underground habitats built by the government, she waits with the other chosen for the deadly virus to claim those above. Separated from family and friends, it’s in the PODs she meets David. And while true love might not conquer all, it’s a balm for the broken soul.

After a year, scientists believe the population has died, and without living hosts, so has the virus. That’s the theory, anyway. But when the PODs are opened, survivors find the surface holds a vicious secret. The virus mutated, infecting those left top-side and creating… monsters.

Eva and David hide from the infected in the abandoned PODs. Together they try to build a life–a new beginning. But the infected follow and are relentless in their attacks. Leaving Eva and David to fight for survival, and pray for a cure.

Ok, who does not think this sounds totally awesome? This sounds like a dystopian/zombie/post-apocalyptic story which, really, sounds freaking cool! I can’t believe we have to wait a year and a half for this! Really! CRUEL!

WAIT! Don’t leave just yet, I have a special treat for you on this week’s Waiting on Wednesday. A cover reveal

Lucid
(Brightest Kind of Darkness, #2)
PT Michelle
Release date: Spring 2012
Synopsis currently unavailable

Brightest Kind of Darkness series:

This is the 2nd book in the Brightest Kind of Darkness series. Both covers are gorgeous I love the eye catching colors. Lucid could also count as my Waiting on Wednesday though since I freaking loved the first book. If you haven’t heard of it – click here for my review of Brightest Kind of Darkness.

Whoa. I adore those covers. They’re so bright and lovely. I’ve honestly just been staring at them for like two minutes straight.

PODs sounds good. I’ve never heard of it before. The Brightest Kind of Darkness series is new to me too! Both are new and fresh choices.

Dang! You teased us with such blurb only to find out it will be released more than a year from now. Do you know how much anxiety we’d be in, Giselle? Hehe
But great pick! I like the cover although the model’s expression is hard to relate to the book’s plot. Nevertheless, it’s intriguing.

Here are my WoW picks for 2 weeks (this week and the last):

I love the covers for both! Surprisingly I like Lucid’s cover better than its predecessors. Is that strange? *lol*

I don’t think I’m ballsy enough to read PODs. I have thing for those virus take over books. Seriously. But it looks cool!

    Have an amazing reading week!

    – Asher (from Paranormal Indulgence)

  5. Heidi

I haven’t read Brightest Kind of Darkness, but I am very happy with the Lucid cover! Thank goodness for girls NOT wearing prom dresses in odd settings, the jacket and scarf seem much more appropriate.

  6. Nikki

That book does sound grr-eat! Though that is a freaking long wait. I might just have to wipe it from my memory until it gets closer to it’s pub date. And I can’t believe I have never heard of these books by P.T. Michelle. The covers are stunning!

    ~Nikki (Imaginative Adventure)

  7. Traci @ The Reading Geek

Great picks! Pods sounds amazing! I love the synopsis and I am a complete sucker for dystopian and zombie stories! I also must start the Brightest Kind of Darkness series soon, I have heard great things about it.

  8. Lindsey (A Storm of Words)

PODs sounds AWESOME. In reading that synopsis alone, I already felt so much anticipation and restlessness over what life will be like when the PODs are open o___O But ugh, the wait! Over a year?! Ouch. But yay for a unique spin on the whole post-apocalyptic/zombie story.
