Waiting on Wednesday (37)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

Fang Girl

Helen Keeble
Release date: September 11th 2012
by HarperTeen

Things That Are Destroying Jane Greene’s Undead Social Life Before It Can Even Begin:

1) A twelve-year-old brother who’s convinced she’s a zombie.
2) Parents who are begging her to turn them into vampires.
3) The pet goldfish she accidentally turns instead.
4) Weird superpowers that let her rip the heads off of every other vampire she meets.(Sounds cool, but it doesn’t win you many friends.)
5) A pyschotic vampire creator who’s using her to carry out a plan for world domination.

And finally:
6) A seriously ripped vampire hunter who either wants to stake her or make out with her. Not sure which.

Being an undead, eternally pasty fifteen-year-old isn’t quite the sexy, brooding, angst-fest Jane always imagined….

Helen Keeble’s riotous debut novel combines the humor of Vladimir Tod with Ally Carter’s spot-on teen voice. With a one-of-a-kind vampire mythology and an irresistibly relatable undead heroine, this uproarious page-turner will leave readers bloodthirsty for more

Eternally pasty!!
I don’t know about you, but I think this sounds hilarious!  I love humoristic books and this one has an awesome sounding heroine and a ripped vampire hunter!? Yes please!

Ah ! This sounds EPIC 😀
It seems like it’s going to be funny. 🙂
    Vampire Goldfish ? 😛
    I’m definitely in !
    Thanks for sharing, Giselle !

  2. Jennifer Messerschmidt

Sounds really funny! How did she accidentally turn her goldfish lol I’ve read a few comedy vampire books and sometimes they turn out too cheesy so I hope this one is good! Falling for a vampire hunter is always a bad one when you a vampire.
    My WOW

  3. Aylee

I don’t read a ton of funny books – I think because they can be really hit or miss and depend on my mood too much – but I really would like to try to start reading more of it. If I’m in the perfect mood for it, then they are just the funnest things! This one sounds great – I’m adding it to my tbr now, thanks!

  4. Cindy

This one sounds like so much fun! I hadn’t heard of it but now look forward to reading it too. Thanks for putting it on my radar 🙂

  5. Kelsey @ Slush Sleuth

I am definitely in the mood for something light hearted! (Finished CoLS today… Oi was that crazy). Wish that one was out so I could dive in right now! #2 cracks me up. I wonder if my parents would be like that too.

It’s my first time by here, but I’m glad I found you! I like the WoW logo you have.

    Happy WoW!

  6. Ellen Faith

Oh my gosh. That sounds HILARIOUS! Haha. Although I’m curious as to how she turned her goldfish into a vampire. Most books say you have to bite them for that to happen! Haha.

    Aweosme pick as usual!

    My WOW

  7. Renae McKenzie

When I first saw the title I was like, ‘Really, another vampire novel?’ But as I read the blurb it actually sounds rather good with lots of comedy and ripped vampire hunters! xD

    Thanks for sharing!

Okay, so now I know why the number of people marking FANG GIRL as “to-read” on GoodReads just jumped by about a hundred. *grin* Thank you SO much for your interest in the book! It’s my debut novel and I’m very excited to see people already talking about it. Fingers crossed that my book lives up to your expectations!

(I _may_ be able to hook you up with an ARC for review, as my publisher is currently sending them out to prominent book bloggers. Drop me a note at helen@helenkeeble.com if you’re interested, and I’ll see what I can do…)

The description sounds pretty great, but am I the only one thinks that cover is awful? The white background? The fact that it looks thrown together in like five seconds? Sigh.

  12. Giselle

    Thanks for dropping by, lovelies!

@Helen: Yay I’m glad you saw it! I’m confident it will live up! 🙂

@Christine: Ha! I actually like the cover – but I like white covers in general I find they pop. But I think it’s meant to be fun/ironic to fit the book.

  13. Tara
