Waiting on Wednesday (70)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

Stained
Cheryl Rainfield
Genre: YA Contemporary Thriller
Release date: November 19th 2013
by Harcourt Children’s Books

In this heart-wrenching and suspenseful teen thriller, sixteen-year-old Sarah Meadows longs for “normal.” Born with a port-wine stain covering half her face, all her life she’s been plagued by stares, giggles, bullying, and disgust. But when she’s abducted on the way home from school, Sarah is forced to uncover the courage she never knew she had, become a hero rather than a victim, and learn to look beyond her face to find the beauty and strength she has inside. It’s that—or succumb to a killer

There is just something about kidnapping plots that call to me. I think one reason is because stories like this are heard in the news as much as in fiction novels. It makes them so real and creepy, plus I love to see what people do in those situations. I’ve also heard good things about Cheryl’s other books so I have high hopes for this one!

What are you waiting on, lovelies?

Stained sounds very interesting. I also like kidnapping stories for the same reasons as you. I’m looking forward to this book.

  2. Renae McKenzie

I like the look of this too! I like that storyline will give the MC to grow and become more confident with herself, something that we all should be.

    Thanks for sharing!

It sounds like such a hard topic to write about. I’m very interested in this book especially since there’s room for a lot of character development. Great pick, Giselle and thanks for sharing!

Oh Giselle, another great find! You had me hooked from the first line of the blurb and from then it just got better and better! It’s a shame about the long wait for it’s release, but I’ll definitely be checking this book out! 🙂

This does sound good, and I know what you mean about kidnapping plots! Yuck, you don’t want to like reading about it, but it’s sometimes hard to resist:) Great choice! Here’s my WOW.

Never heard of this one before but it does sound good. Kidnapping themes are so hard to read but I can’t help but be intrigued by them as well… have you read Stolen by Lucy Christopher? Amazing. And heartbreaking. Great pick, Giselle!

I’m really looking forward to this book. I read one of Cheryl’s other books, Scars, last year and I got to meet her at the Belleville stop for Apocalypse Tour and I had fun chatting with her there. I’m kinda amazed you have this cover… O.o … I’m on the cover / trailer reveal for it on Tuesday. Regardless, though… Definitely an awesome choice. Considering how awesome Scars was, I’m sure Stained will be totally amazing!!
