Book Girls Don’t Cry is a feature where we will discuss/vent/advise on a bookish topic. This feature is hosted by myself along with these pretty ladies:

My Holiday in Books!

The holidays are here (holy crap, right?) – how do you usually spend yours? We have a huge family gathering on Christmas eve where we usually do fun gift exchange games and eat a lot chocolate and other junk food- catching up with family I don’t see often is the best, though. Then Christmas itself is bound to be a lot of fun with my 3 and a half year old in tow. He’s already super excited and this is the fist year that he sort of “gets” it before it’s here. Then it’s just a lot more food, a lot of family, a lot of relaxing, cuddling, and all of those good things! Obviously this is my favorite time of the year! 🙂

I will also be on a well deserved vacation from work for 2 whole weeks which will not only be freaking awesome, but it will give me plenty of time to do some reading! Xpresso Reads will be on a holiday hiatus, too, the week of Christmas. I do have a giveaway or 2 pre-scheduled to go up, however 😉 Once the presents are exchanged and the turkeys are eaten, I will be diving into a book or 2.

Here is my to-read list for my holiday vacation:
I can’t say that I will tread 100% of these books, but my plan is to try!

I *should* be able to read 8 books in a 2 weeks vacation I’d say 🙂 These are actually mostly ARCs that have been burning my shelves because I had to wait til closer to release to read them, and now I can so EEEP! Well okay a couple are further off but whatevs I’m cheating it’s the holidays >.<

YAY for time off for the holidays! I’m getting 4 days off in Jan for our Twelfth Night/Reyes thing, that is when we exchange gifts traditionally in Spain, but I work on Xmas’ Eve, Xmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day… ugh! Hopefully I’ll have some time to read in between, even if I’m missing the family lunch on Xmas Day… Hospitals don’t close!
Thankfully I’ll have dinner with the family on New Year’s Eve though I won’t be going out since I work the next day.

I’m hoping to catch up a bit on all my review copies on my days off in Jan though!

  2. Ellie @ Book Addicted Blonde

My copy of Addicted to You just arrived, thanks to your review the other day! Haha, obviously that’ll have to be on my festive reading list now. 🙂

I’m at work until halfway through Christmas Eve, but if I can get a little cleaning and wrapping done in the evenings this week instead it’d be nice to spend that afternoon reading with cookies, or maybe watching a festive movie, try and get in the mood for Christmas at the last minute! After the New Year I’ll have all the time in the world to read (we’ve sold our bookshop) so I’m hoping to use the cold-weather coziness to dive headfirst into ALL THE BOOKS!

    Merry Christmas all… 🙂

  3. Mary @ BookSwarm

I can’t believe the holidays are almost here. I’m so not ready. And YAY, I’ve got a 2-week break coming up too (dear God. My brain is so fried, I really need the recharge.). We’ll be reading goddesses.

  4. Kelly

Eeep! I’ve requested a couple of these on NetGalley! I’m hoping to get approved for them soon. Looks like you’ve got some great reads ahead of you. Enjoy your holiday! 🙂

  5. Nereyda @Mostly YA Book Obsessed

I LOVE Christmas! The food, the presents, the food! My daughter is on break and I hope to get lots of reading done. I want to read just ‘me’ books. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to read with a 6 and 3 year old at home all day (they either love each other or hate each other, depending on the time) but I’m 6 books behind my GR goal and I plan on meeting it. Happy break!

  6. Lori

I really want to read Unravel Me, Into the Still Blue, Eversea, and Being Sloane Jacobs. I hope the kids will give me plenty of reading time while they’re home from school!

  7. Eileen @ Singing and Reading in the Rain

I hope you can read all of these books! I’m so ready for the winter break because a whole week and a half of no school is going to be amazing. I am so excited for Cress and I’ve read nothing but amazing reviews for Cruel Beauty and I also liked Uninvited 🙂

Have a great holiday, Giselle! <33

  8. Michaela

What a great list!! I have a lot of those books on my TBR list and I have no idea when I will get to them :). Happy reading!! Enjoy your reading break hehe

  9. ShootingStarsMag

I still have to work, but a little less than normal and I’m on vacation from school so that’s fantastic! lol I hope to get a lot of reading in because it slows down a bit with classes. I’m also going to try and schedule more posts in advance to help out. I don’t know what all I’ll read. I hope you get these 8 in though!

  10. Melanie (YA Midnight Reads)

Ooh those look like some great reads! I am taking a break on blogging but my blog will still be relatively active since I’ve already got scheduled post ready. And tomorrow is my blogverse which is pretty awesome >.<

    Happy holidays! <33

We usually get together with family over Christmas and end up eating so much that we’re completely stuffed by the time Doctor Who rolls around. I also have a few weeks off from work, and my plan was to read all the books, unfortunately that hasn’t happened so far, but it’s always great to have a lie in once in a while! I hope you have a fantastic Christmas! 🙂

I am practically drooling over what would transpire on your Christmas holidays, Giselle. Our Christmas celebration is usually small since most of our relatives live miles and miles away. Most of the time, it’s really me, my parents and siblings. But this year’s Christmas would really be a sad one since my 2 sisters won’t be able to come home due to work. And my father wouldn’t also come home.

Basically, there will only be the three of us celebrating Christmas and well, we’ll just have to make it as fun as possible by food binging, movie marathons, exchanging gifts and just goofing around.

And you’re planning to read 8 books after Christmas? Wow, I am not even sure if I could finish that amount of books since I would still be suffering from holiday laziness at that time. But that wouldn’t be the case if I have an ARC of Cress waiting for me. Gaah, I am so envious right now.

Advance Happy Christmas, Giselle! I am happy to know that you’ll be taking a break. You deserve it. <3333

  13. Amy @ Book Loving Mom

Great list of holiday reading! I suck and wasn’t able to get my post put together. It’s been a rough week with a crazy snow storm and other things so I didn’t have time. Now it’s almost 8pm on Friday and I just don’t have the energy to put it together. I should try to get some reading done since I’m still playing catch up. I only have Christmas day off of work, so I most likely will get less reading done with family stuff going on. It’s okay though, I love doing all the family holiday things.

  14. Rashika

We don’t do much but hey my sister and I are going to go watch Frozen! 😀 And then we’ll probably just watch other christmasy movies at home and stuff ourselves with goodies.

Oh and because I am awesome, I am also going to try to get a whole lot of reading done (in hopes of actually getting to my metal reading goal for the year).

I hope you enjoy your holidays! 😀
