Fresh Batch, posted weekly, keeps you up to date on the hottest releases of the upcoming week.

Flavor of the week:

The Impossible Knife of Memory
Laurie Halse Anderson
Publication date: January 7th 2014
by Viking Juvenile

Purchase

For the past five years, Hayley Kincaid and her father, Andy, have been on the road, never staying long in one place as he struggles to escape the demons that have tortured him since his return from Iraq. Now they are back in the town where he grew up so Hayley can attend school. Perhaps, for the first time, Hayley can have a normal life, put aside her own painful memories, even have a relationship with Finn, the hot guy who obviously likes her but is hiding secrets of his own.

Will being back home help Andy’s PTSD, or will his terrible memories drag him to the edge of hell, and drugs push him over? The Impossible Knife of Memory is Laurie Halse Anderson at her finest: compelling, surprising, and impossible to put down.

Wow, so many books for this week! Clearly is the week after the holidays!
I already read an ARC of The Almost Girl and is great!
I’m currently reading my early arrival of my preordered copy of Unhinged, which I’m loving so far, and I think I will be getting The Impossible Knife of Memory, I’ve read such great reviews for it!

I just got Altered last Christmas and haven’t got the time to read it… now Erased is already out? guess I’ll have to read it next after my current book…

  3. Kelsey

I want to eventually read a Breath of Frost, and Independent Study was really good! I was surprised ther were so many coming out this week lol.

  4. Eileen @ Singing and Reading in the Rain

Unhinged and Enders have been getting a lot of buzz, as well as Being Sloane Jacobs. I’ve seen multiple positive reviews for that, and I may have to read it to see what the fuss about this particular author is all about. Also, I saw your promo for A Breath of Frost and that’s another book I’m going to have to be on the lookout for πŸ™‚

  5. Nova Lee @ Out of Time

There are so many books here that I want!!! AHHH! I was lucky to have read Unhinged AND Defy! Both were oh-SO Good! I’m dying for Being Sloane Jacobs and The Impossible Knife of Memory!!!

I read Unhinged as well…I’m glad it’s getting the hype it deserves and can’t wait for other people to enjoy it as much as I did!! Most of the others I haven’t really heard of though..I need to get out there more!

  9. Haley @ YA-Aholic

Ah so many of these I need to pick up, The Impossible Knife of Memory, No One Else Can Have You, and The Killing Woods being the main three I need to get! (: I just finished Defy a few days ago, it was good/decent, could’ve been ALOT better though. (: Thanks for sharing! I love posts like this since I seem to always lose track of when books come out πŸ˜›
