10 Non-Het Romance Books to Read on Valentine’s Day (or any other day of the year)

Posted by

Tired of all the het romances in the spotlight come Valentine’s day? Here is a list of 10 non-het romances to read instead + a bonus movie to watch! This list is by no means cumulative but the books have strong romance elements and HEAs (unless I seriously screwed up while researching.)

1. Tell Me Again How A Crush Should Feel by Sara Farizan

Interracial romance, QPOC,ย #ownvoices.

2. Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

A fantasy world where society isn’t homophobic. #ownvoices.

3. When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore

Interracial romance, QPOC,ย #ownvoices.

4. Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

oreos.

5. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sรกenz

Latinx main characters. #ownvoices.

6. Ash by Malinda Lo

Cinderella retelling, QPOC, #ownvoices.

7. One Man Guy by Michael Barakiva

First-gen Armenian-American MC, #ownvoices.

8. Been Here All Along by Sandy Hall

A literal rom-com but without a het couple hogging all the page/screen time.

9. Not Your Sidekick by C.B. Lee

Interracial romance. QPOC. #ownvoices.

10. Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour.

#ownvoices. Also my Valentine’s read because I’ve had it on my TBR for a bazillion years.

BONUS FILM: D.E.B.S.

badass spy ladies + a super cute romance.

The following two tabs change content below.
Rashika has been tired since 2013. There are very few things that spark joy for her besides a nice cup of tea, warm, baked goods, good books and good TV shows. She is here to pile onto your giant TBRs and to-watch lists. Offer her a cookie and she might be nice to you.

I loooove Simon vs so much!! I’ve been wanting to reread it actually. Unfortunately I didn’t love Of Fire and Stars or Been Here All Along but I hope others do. I liked the couple in Been Here at least! “Crush”, “Everything”, and “Sidekick” are on my TBR and One Man Guy looks like an interesting title! I’m all about HEA ships haha ๐Ÿ™‚ Awesome list!!

I really love Ari and Dante, because it’s not only dealing with sexuality, it also deals with family past and heritage! I also want to read Been Here All Along and Simon vs Homo Sapiens, so I’m glad you like them!

That’s ALSO why I absolutely adore the book. It isn’t just about sexuality, its also about cultural identity and the intersectionality in it makes my heart soar. Been Here All Along and Simon are both super adorable so I hope you enjoy them both! ๐Ÿ™‚
