Ooh what is this? ๐
So I was debating, I have been posting 4 reviews a week and to be honest it’s getting a little much for me. I can do 4, but I often find I’m always last minute with my review books and I feel like I need more breathing room. So I started thinking what I could replace a review day with that would be fun for my readers (something you’d enjoy as much or even more than a review)–and what is always fun? Venting and discussing bookish things!
So welcome to the introduction of a new weekly discussion post! But there’s more! As you could probably deduce from the banner, I have teamed up with Jenni from Alluring Reads and Amy from Book Loving Mom to make this feature all the more fabulistic!.
This feature is inspired by Book Buzzers–with Evie‘s blessing– which was a discussion vlogging team that Jenni and Amy were a part of. Since everyone else got too busy to keep that feature going, they decided to branch out and create their own with a smaller team–except ours is not a vlogging team necessarily since mine will mostly be typed out (laziness and all ;))
What’s the point? Well this feature, inspired by Book Buzzers (Evie Bookish) is a way for us to discuss bookish pet peeves, current book affairs, blogging tips, tricks and/or annoyances, as well as anything else that catches our fancy. I know the title says so, but it won’t necessarily always be venting. We’ll see.
How it works: One week we will decide on a topic, and all 3 of us will be doing up our own discussion post on the topic to go live on different days. Mine will be either on Thursday or Friday or every week, you can watch for Jenni’s on Mondays, and Amy’s on Saturdays.

What a great idea. I like the slogan.

A great thing to discuss could be the most disappointing books of all time…

What an amazing idea!! Adore the slogan. I think a great thing to discuss would be how to handle book review review requests, the etiquette I guess and how to form relashionships with publishers ๐

OMG guys, awesome post! Love the title. ๐ Well, a topic I think would be really interesting, especially because of something I had to deal with recently regarding another book blogger, is rumors spread around the blogging community about other bloggers/groups etc. Not only did this blogger spreading rumors about me deny it, but she acted as if I was in the wrong, which really maddened me. I’m attempting to move on and forget her, but… it’s a work in progress, I guess you could say :/ Anyway, I don’t know if you guys’ll choose this topic, cause I’m sure there are going to be a TON of awesome ones coming your way, but I guess this is me venting and trying to get the whole experience out of my system. ๐ Great new feature, guys! Can’t wait!!! ๐
Amy
I am so excited about this!! I love you girls to pieces so it’s going to be great doing this weekly feature together. ๐ I can’t wait to see the great topics that people want us to discuss or rant about!!
Jenni @ Alluring Reads
What is this?!?!
So excited to vent with you ladies. I think we are getting some good topics between all of our blogs and we should be set for a while!

Great topic!! Alright my ??
1) Discussing Plagerism and how it HURTS the blogging world, and what we can do as bloggers to overcome this. +How do you know someone is stealing from your blog, where to look etc??
2)ARCS– How to find them, whom to contact, best thing to do with them when finished-giveaways, pass-it-on etc… How to contact pubs?? What’s the best thing to say when contacting pubs.
3)Social Media– and the best ways to boost your blogs (triberr, twitter, fb, other??) Thoughts, about each and how to utilize.
Great topic, thanks for the taking the time to answer and share your opinions!

What a fun idea! I’m really looking forward to see your discussion posts.
-Instant-love: go or no go?
-Seeing the recent plagiarism: how do you feel about that? What is the best way to deal with it? How can you find out if you are a victim? etc.
-Do’s and dont’s on a cover: what turns you off and what makes you excited?
-How do you feel about the real “bad boys” trend? The unhealthy relationships?
-Do you think that there should be more attention for books? Like, more stimulation in school?
-E-readers: like it or hate it? Will the e-books ever replace real books? (I sure hope not :p)
-Twitter: helpful in the bloggingworld?
-Best ways to promote your blog and reviews, so you get more visitors and comments?
-How do you guys approach a publisher when it comes to ARC’s and review copies?
-Unique stories: are there still original books out there? And how do you feel about popular books with vampires/werewolves/angels/etc? Still hot or are you getting tired of them?
-What makes a book good in your eyes? Is it all about characters or is it the writing-style?
-Trends: what do you think is going to be the new trend when it comes to covers and storylines?
When I started with one thing, all these things kept popping up in my head :p I hope it’s useful!

I was just thinking of starting a discussion post or something because I have been reviewing 5 days a week. Its sometimes hard to get that much read and since I started doing the book promotions I spend much more time on the computer and less time reading. I might just join up with a good meme like Thing of Something Tuesday or Top Ten Tuesday and just do it occasionally. But I’m not sure. Anyway, I think this is a great idea!

As a new blogger, I would love to get advice from experienced bloggers on everything from review writing (what’s your technique?), arc requests (how, who, what, when, where), time management (reading/blogging/work/life balance), blog promotion (social media & how to use it successfully), html coding (blog/post design & extras – how to do it), organization tools (do you plan out your posts/what your reading next) and any other tips and tricks that you’ve learned along the way that may be helpful to someone starting out. ๐
Looking forward to this weekly discussion! A thank you to all of our hosts!

I love this feature already. Just a suggestion… would you consider posting a linky with your posts so others can chime in and then link up?

Oh that’s something we hadn’t thought it. We might consider it in the future once we see how it goes. I wonder how it would be for like, letting people know the topic etc. And ours is all going up on different days. Something to discuss I guess. ๐

Love the idea! I can’t wait to see where it will go ๐
Cheers!

Ohh I would love to see a post/rant about how the ya industry needs to be more diverse. Whenever I go to barnes and noble the whole ya/teen section seems to be set on caucasian characters…rarely do books I read even mention MINOR characters that are hispanic, or dark skinned, or native american or well anything else besides white lol
This is an awesome idea for a weekly post! I’m really excited to read them! ๐

I love this idea. And I agree with putting a linky list so other bloggers can post their thoughts too. I think Mel put a really good list for discussion topics.

Ooh, what a cool idea! I love talking about books and everyone related to them. I would love to see a discussion about the New Adult genre. I’m excited to see books popping up in this genre. It is such a very distinct time of life — nothing else really compares.
Savannah Bookswithbite
Cool! What a neat idea!!!
Alisa Selene
This a great idea! Topics for me would be:
1. Love Triangles love it or hate it
2. Insta- Love in books
3. The trend toward sequels rather than stand alone books.
4. The new adult genre, what is the line between YA and mature
That is all I can think of ATM!
Adriana NaNa
Oh yeah! This is going to be great. I have been missing you gals on YouTube.

IM DEFINITELY LOVING THIS IDEA!!!! ๐ It would be awesome to see you guys vent about love triangles ๐

I have a topic: generic covers. I knows there’s sites you can get free pictures that many authors use. It’s when I see the same covers over and over that bugs me. Talk about the top abused shots.
This is a great idea.

This is awesome! I canโt believe you have time to write 4 reviews a week, work on your design projects, blog tour projects and still have time to read and be a wife and mommy!
I aim for 2-3 reviews a week, anything more is just too much for me and starts to feel like โI have toโ instead of โI want to.โ
Most of the time I hit 3 reviews, sometimes I donโt. This week is review-less because Iโm reading books I canโt review until later.
Looking forward to these posts!
Kristilyn (Reading In Winter)
This is a great idea! I love doing discussion posts on my blog … it’s a great way to have some diversity on the blog, so I’m not bogging it down with ONLY reviews. I love reviewing books, but after a while it’s hard to keep up!
Good luck to you all!
Kelly @ Dandelion Dreams
This is such a wonderful idea!! I love all of the topics on the comments above. I definitely think you should do a tips and tricks post according to design/HTML stuff (because I basically suck at it! haha). And your design is amazing!! Like how you get pictures as headers for your sidebar stuff, sliders, etc. Just little “How to” posts.
I’m really looking forward to your discussion posts!
Melissas Eclectic Bookshelf
Love this idea…I’ll definitely be checking back to see what you lovely ladies are talking about!
