Waiting on Wednesday (45)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

The Haven

Carol Lynch Williams
Release date: April 16th, 2013
by St. Martin’s Griffin

For the teens at The Haven, the outside world, just beyond the towering stone wall that surrounds the premises, is a dangerous unknown. It has always been this way, ever since the hospital was established in the year 2020. But The Haven is more than just a hospital; it is their home. It is all they know. Everything is strictly monitored: education, exercise, food, and rest. The rules must be followed to keep the children healthy, to help control the Disease that has cast them as Terminals, the Disease that claims limbs and lungs—and memories.

But Shiloh is different; she remembers everything. Gideon is different, too. He dreams of a cure, of rebellion against the status quo. What if everything they’ve been told is a lie? What if The Haven is not the safe place it claims to be? And what will happen if Shiloh starts asking dangerous questions?

Kind of creepy sounding! Surprisingly, I’m not sick of dystopians (yet) and depending on its originality this one could be really awesome! Regardless, hospitals really freak me out and the cover calls to me!

I don’t think I could ever get tired of dystopian novels! 🙂 This sounds pretty creepy, but like you said, it has the potential to be awesome ! 🙂
Thanks for sharing, Giselle ! <3

  3. Patricia

I’m not sure if I have heard of this one before.. It looks familiar, but I’m not sure if it does because there is another book with a similiar cover or not. :O

In any case, I agree. It sounds creepy, but in a good way. 😀

    My WOW

  4. Jade

Oooh! This sounds creepy, but interesting. I think the idea of teens being ‘trapped’ behind walls or fences and locked away from the real world is being overused a little so I’m a little wary of it…

Adding it to my TBR now!

I’m not sure I would like this one? The blurb really doesn’t give me enough to actually get excited about it, I guess I’ll just have to wait and read your thoughts and review, before I 100% commit to this one. Thanks for sharing, 😀

  6. Mimi Valentine

Despite all the dystopian craze, I don’t think I’ll ever be sick of dystopian either x) There’s just so much you can do with controlled futuristic books that I don’t think there should be any worry for repetitiveness 🙂 And Giselle, this one sounds so cool! I DOES sound a little creepy, but I’ve learned that creepy can be a very good thing x)

Awesome pick for your WOW, Giselle! 🙂 <3

Dude! This one sounds super awesome!! I’m not burnt out on dystopian yet either. Just added this to my ridiculous TBR list haha!

  8. Alexa

The story for this one sounds REALLY GOOD. I try not to read too many book in the same genre, but this sounds way too good to pass up on!

Ohhhh I like the sound of this and that cover is awesome! Nothing is creepier to me than old hospitals…mental hospitals etc… so I like the sound of this one 🙂

  10. ❤ Vivian

The premise of this one does sound quite interesting…though it reminds me also of a lot of other dystopians…actually, it reminds me of The Giver. O_O Nice pick though!

A lot of dystopians are starting to sound similar, but this one sounds good. I’d seen it around but hadn’t read the synopsis til now. And the cover is AMAZING, it totally calls to me too!

  15. Aneeqah

Ahh, this sounds ah-mazing, Giselle. I have only read a few creepy hospital book [like Fever *shudder*] and they kind of creep me out, but I still love reading them. [Does this make me strange? XD] Anyways, thanks for sharing! I’m definitely adding this one to my TBR. =)

    Fabulous pick Giselle! <3

This one sounds really good – I love hospital type reads (there aren’t enough of them) and I want to know why they are “hospitalized”.

This sounds fantastic! It’s funny, but I’m not completely tired of dystopians either. I have to get my hands on this! Thanks for sharing, Giselle. 🙂

  18. Leanne

This should be an interesting venture away from Carol Lynch William’s previous contemp novels! Dystopian? I’m intrigued. 🙂 Great pick, Giselle!

  19. Rebecca - Kindle Fever

That does sound kind of creepy! But definitely good. Hahah, I’m not sick of Dystopians either, I’m actually just getting into it–I know, I know, I’m all late to the party. Anyway, I agree with you about hospitals freaking me out too, when it comes to these kind of stories… I’m super intrigued!
