Waiting on Wednesday (79)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:
The In-Between
Barbara Stewart
Genre: YA Psychological Thriller
Publication date: November 5th 2013
by St. Martin’s Griffin

When Elanor’s near-death experience opens a door to a world inhabited by bold, beautiful Madeline, she finds her life quickly spiraling out of control

Fourteen-year-old Elanor Moss has always been an outcast who fails at everything she tries—she’s even got the fine, white scars to prove it. Moving was supposed to be a chance at a fresh start, a way to leave behind all the pain and ugliness of her old life. But, when a terrible car accident changes her life forever, her near-death experience opens a door to a world inhabited by Madeline Torus . . . Madeline is everything Elanor isn’t: beautiful, bold, brave. She is exactly what Elanor has always wanted in a best friend and more—their connection runs deeper than friendship. But Madeline is not like other girls, and Elanor has to keep her new friend a secret or risk being labeled “crazy.” Soon, though, even Elanor starts to doubt her own sanity. Madeline is her entire life, and that life is drastically spinning out of control. Elanor knows what happens when your best friend becomes your worst enemy. But what happens when your worst enemy is yourself?

Psychological thrillers become more often than not favorites of mine so I have really high hopes for this one! Disappoint me and die, book!!
What are you waiting on, this Wednesday?

    This one looks FABULOUS Giselle!
I am wondering if this is like a “Single White Female” type situation or something a bit more supernatural.
I think Wednesdays & Sundays are the most DANGEROUS days for my TBR and wallet. I try to avoid looking books but can’t resist.

Lol I love psychological thrillers too! They seem to be a hit or miss for me though, to be honest. I love the sound of this one though, and that cover! Although, the main character seems to be younger than the usual YA crowd. Great pick this week though Giselle, I’m so adding this to my tbr pile!

  3. Martina Koleva

I love the cover.. now the summary is another story. Well I kind of like that too but I’m not sure it’s for me. I hope you enjoy reading the book when it comes out though.
Come check out my WOW post.

Where do you UBS all these amazing books, Giselle?! You’re the one making my to-read pile grow taller and taller! Lol. Great pick, anyway. Yeah, psychological thrillers more often than not disappoint me (hello, The Murmurings!), so fingers crossed that this one will be different!

I meant, “Where do you find all these amazing books, not UBS. God, I’ve no idea what my phone thinks it’s doing. Stupid auto-correct -_-

  5. Vanya D.

Goodness! My mind isn’t suited for psycho thrillers at all. But, since you’re waiting on it, I hope you enjoy it when you get to read it 🙂

btw, I haven’t been over to your blog in so long! You’ve done a remarkable job redesigning it! 🙂

    Here’s my WOW

  6. Dea S.

This sounds like a heavy read. I don’t normally pick up psychological thrillers but I do go out of my comfort zone once in a while. I might try this when it comes out. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it when you get your hands on a copy!

I’ll let you read this one, Giselle and then I’ll decide if I want to. It sounds kinda good but YA thrillers rarely work for me. Take one for the team, cupcake!

  8. Mary @ BookSwarm

Personally, I’d think the girl was a bit off her rocker if, after a near-death experience, she pretty much turned into someone else because of this Madeline chick (does she exist in “real” life or just in Elanor’s head?). INTERESTING!

  9. Amy

Ohh Awesome pick!! I saw this one a little while ago and was going to use it, but it didn’t have a cover yet, then I forgot about it… Anyways, this one sounds awesome and I am really looking forward to it. Fab pick as always hon!!

  10. Tiffany Drew

Wow, love that cover! I hadn’t heard of this one yet, do we seriously have to wait until November? I guess I can wait, hopefully I’ll have money by then LOL. Seriously, how can I keep up with all these awesome books?

Whoa, this sounds INTENSE. Adding it now. Thanks so much for talking it up, chica! 🙂 BTW, I just read PARALLEL by Lauren Miller, which was a little bit like this one, so you might enjoy it.

  12. Micheline D

Damn this sounds creepy, I’m already scared that she’s totally going to be imagining Madeline >.< sounds right up your alley anyways precious so I hope you'll love it…especially with the luck you've been having! Great pick
