Waiting on Wednesday (85)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:
Waiting on Wednesday (85)Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano
Series: The Internment Chronicles #1
Published by Simon & Schuster BfYR on October 1st 2013
Genres: Post-Apocalyptic, YA
Goodreads

On Internment, the floating island in the clouds where 16-year-old Morgan Stockhour lives, getting too close to the edge can lead to madness. Even though Morgan's older brother, Lex, was a Jumper, Morgan vows never to end up like him. She tries her best not to mind that her life is orderly and boring, and if she ever wonders about the ground, and why it is forbidden, she takes solace in best friend Pen and her betrothed, Basil.

Then a murder, the first in a generation, rocks the city. With whispers swirling and fear on the wind, Morgan can no longer stop herself from investigating, especially when she meets Judas. He is the boy being blamed for the murder — betrothed to the victim — but Morgan is convinced of his innocence. Secrets lay at the heart of Internment, but nothing can prepare Morgan for what she will find — or who she will lose.

Whoa this sounds really cool and different for a dystpian/sci-fi/whatevers. I like the murder mystery included in it, too!

I was going to pick this one for today’s wow, but changed my mind the last minute. I really like the premises, can’t wait for it either!

This sounds really good. I haven’t read anything by the author yet, but I’ve heard she writes interesting books.

Woahh… 3 people chose this for their WOW this week. O_O What a coinkidink. I haven’t read anything DeStefano but have her Wither and Fever on my shelf- ought to start them soon.

    Great pick, Giselle! <33

  4. Ariella Lee

I really like the little girl on the cover with the tree in the background. It seems so mysterious and cool. Sounds great too! I’ve never read anything by DeStefano so this would be a good chance for me to read something she wrote 🙂 Great pick!

PERFECT RUIN! So looking forward to that one too, even though I didn’t love Lauren’s Chemical Garden trilogy as much as others did. Still, the cover for this one is boo-ti-ful, and I’m not one to turn down what sounds like a fab sci-fi read. Great pick! 🙂

Ohhh How had I not heard of this one?!! It sounds awesome!! I have been really enjoying sci-fi books and have been looking for more that appeal to me!

This seems like a popular choice this week… and with good reason! It sounds really different from a lot that’s out there right now. And of course I love that cover! 🙂

I just stumbled on to this one for the first time a few days ago myself – it sounds really promising doesn’t it?! I haven’t read her Chemical Garden books though so I’d have no idea what to expect but I hear her prose is pretty sweet so this could be EPIC. Nice pick!
