Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week:

Waiting on Wednesday (96)Fiendish by Brenna Yovanoff
Published by Razorbill on 2014
Genres: Thriller, YA
Goodreads

A creepily atmospheric new novel from the NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of THE REPLACEMENT

Clementine DeVore spent ten years trapped in a cellar, pinned down by willow roots, silenced and forgotten. Now she’s out and determined to uncover who put her in that cellar and why.

When Clementine was a child, dangerous and inexplicable things started happening in New South Bend. The townsfolk blamed the fiendish people out in the Willows and burned their homes to the ground. But magic kept Clementine alive, walled up in the cellar for ten years, until a boy named Fisher sets her free. Back in the world, Clementine sets out to discover why her childhood was taken from her. But the truth gets muddled in her attraction to Fisher, the politics of New South Bend and the hollow, a fickle and terrifying place that seems increasingly temperamental ever since Clementine reemerged.

A new Brenna Yovanoff!! Yay! Paper Valentine is the only one I read from her but it was so well written – kind of gothic-y and creepy. I loved it. But even if it wasn’t an author that I know could rock it, this premise sounds right up my alley! And I mean, look at that cover! <3 [br]

What are you waiting on?

I haven’t read any of her books yet, but they all sound so good and they all have such beautiful covers! Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

The description and that cover together makes it look good, and I so want to read it! I still haven’t read anything by this author yet, but someday I will!

OMG. I’m in love with that cover. I bet the final will have silver foil on it. I may just order it for the cover alone (*cough* Cover ‘Ho *cough*) though the story sounds awesome, too.

I haven’t read any of Yovanoff’s books yet (though I have THE REPLACEMENT and an ARC of PAPER VALENTINE), but I came across this cover yesterday and because of the cover I want to read it. It’s pretty. And AWESOME.

  5. Jack

I’ve never read a Brenna Yovanoff novel before, but this one looks fantastically creepy. Just the kind of novel I love. I’ll definitely check this out once it’s released.

  6. Sam @ Realm of Fiction

I didn’t realise this had a cover already! I don’t really like the look of it, in all honesty (it’s probably the font), but I love the sound of the book. I’ve only read Paper Valentine by Yovanoff, and although I had some mixed feelings about it, I did like it overall. Hopefully this one will be good! πŸ™‚ Great pick, Giselle.

Oh that cover… Creepy much!! :O
I’ve not heard of the author or this novel before, but thanks for introducing it, Giselle! πŸ˜€
    Awesome pick, Giselle! <33

I still haven’t read anything by her, but she does have some of the coolest covers (the one for The Replacement is amazing). This one is so cool, too, and the story sounds interesting. Great pick!
