Set in a dark, futuristic Los Angeles, a young government prodigy and a notorious criminal cross paths in this heart-pounding romantic thriller.

Having loved the first two books in the Legend series (I still haven’t read Champion!), I was so excited to dive into these graphic novel adaptations and see how the story would translate over into a new medium.

Day and June are fantastic characters whether they are in a novel or graphic novel. I love them as individuals and I love them as a couple. Although, admittedly, I am kind of upset my favorite bathroom scene did not find its way into the graphic novel (SO MUCH SWOON IN THAT SCENE.)

The action scenes also translate very well into the graphic novel format and I love the ways in which the world building comes to life through the beautiful illustrations. It allowed me to experience the dystopic world Marie Lu had built in the Legend series in a new way and allowed me to relate to certain aspects of it a lot more.

The one problem I do have is the lack of diversity within the world. I don’t know if this is an issue that stems from the Legend series itself because it has been a couple years since I’ve read the books and my memory is dodgy, but I would have liked seeing more colorful bodies in the world that weren’t just cast as villains

Overall though, I would definitely recommend these graphic novels especially if you loved the Legend series. I loved being reunited with my favorite characters and experiencing their lives again, I definitely enjoyed having my heart shredded to pieces by some key moments (JK NO. SEND HELP WHEN YOU CAN.) It helped that June and Day were hella attractive in the graphic novel 😉 Basically, I would recommend these graphic novels, 10/10.
