Read these diverse books if you like The Fault in Our Stars (or just want to read A+ diverse books)

About 5 years ago, The Fault in Our Stars made a HUGE splash in the YA reading community. Lots of people fell head over heels for it and some of us weren’t impressed at all. Regardless,The Fault in Our Stars went on to be adapted into a movie and was set as the standard to which all other YA books would be compared to. SO. Books. If you loved The Fault in Our Stars, you should read and support these wonderful, diverse books and find a new fav! Or if you just want good diverse books to read, DO THAT TOO.

1. Trouble is a Friend of Mine by Stephanie Tromly

Written by a POC author. Features wittiest banter, discussions of mental illness, etc.

2. Like No Other by Una LaMarche

Star-crossed lovers. Black MC and Jewish MC.

3. The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley by Shaun David Hutchinson

Gay MC. Book deals with grief and mental illness.

 

ARC Review: Trouble Makes a Comeback by Stephanie Tromly

I’ve been waiting to read Trouble Makes a Comeback for a while now and it completely exceeded my expectations. It was also a comfort read I picked up post-election because I needed something that would make me feel good even for a short period of time. Trouble Makes a Comeback did just that.

Digby is back (after disappearing for 6 months and not keeping in touch) and so is trouble. Honestly, I was so worried we’d be waiting for a part of this book for Digby to be back. Epic Cover Battles #6: Hardcovers vs Paperbacks

It’s been a whole month since I’ve done one of these! Life got in the way so I apologize. It’s summer now so I am BACK with another of Cover Battles! This time, I am going to be battling hardcovers and paperbacks. I love my hardcovers but sometimes, a paperback is just PRETTIER and more affordable. Other times, a paperback doesn’t live up to the amazingness of the book inside and other times, THEY ARE EQUALLY PRETTY.

Review: Trouble is a Friend of Mine by Stephanie Tromly

If you like your Sherlock re-tellings full of lots of wit, humor and fun; Trouble is a Friend of Mine is for you. This book was SO MUCH fun to read. I was giggling most of the time, I liked the characters, I liked the plot, I liked the relationships. This was a great brain candy book  but my problem with the book was how ignorant and privileged the characters were.

We are constantly reminded that the characters live in a very white neighborhood with no diversity and I would assume that that would at least mean that the MCs weren’t completely ignorant and flippant about certain issues but that’s sadly not true. Even though Zoe moved from NYC, a very diverse city, to a white suburban neighborhood. It isn’t…
