WoW (7) – Halloween Edition, Week 4

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
With October upon us, my WoWs this month will feature books that would be perfect for a Halloween read.

My pick this week:

                                    Masque of the Red Death

                                    Bethany Griffin

                                    Release date: April 24, 2012

Everything is in ruins.

A devastating plague has decimated the population. And those who are left live in fear of catching it as the city crumbles to pieces around them.

So what does Araby Worth have to live for? Nights in the Debauchery Club, beautiful dresses, glittery make-up . . . and tantalizing ways to forget it all. But in the depths of the club—in the depths of her own despair—Araby will find more than oblivion. She will find Will, the terribly handsome proprietor of the club. And Elliott, the wickedly smart aristocrat. Neither boy is what he seems. Both have secrets. Everyone does.

And Araby may find something not just to live for, but to fight for—no matter what it costs her.

This reimagining of the gothic horror story by Edgar Allan Poe could not be any more perfect for my last Halloween WoW edition. Firstly, I love gothic horror stories: They’re fascinating, creepy and suspenseful – thus thoroughly enjoyable. Secondly, look at that COVER!! *faints*

This is apparently a three-book deal and I am incredibly excited for it’s release.
Bethany Griffin is also the author of the book Handcuffs that was published in 2008.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

I think this is the second or third time you chose a book that I originally was going to post, but change my mind in the last minute.
I love everything I’ve read of Poe’s so far and am really looking forward to this. Excellent choice!

This sounds amazing! I love Poe, though I must admit, I haven’t read many of his short stories–I prefer his poetry. And, the cover of this book is gorgeous! I am definitely adding it to my TBR list.

Sadly I haven’t read much of Poe’s work, so I don’t really know exactly what book of his this one is suppose to be based on, but it sounds really interesting.

    Hey, Giselle!

Thanks for commenting on my WOW! Greatly appreciate it!!

I thought the title of this book looked familiarl…didn’t remember it was from a Poe story, though.

Well, to be honest, I’m not a huge Poe fan. However, this retelling does sound very, very intriguing, so I think I’ll check it out. One thing for sure — it’s perfect for Halloween!

Thanks for featuring it!! : )

Thanks for stopping by my blog! This sounds like it would be a very good read though I am not a horror fan this doesn’t sound like it was be the scary kind of horror so I think I might give it a shot ^_^.
