My pick this week:
Paranormalcy
Kiersten White
Released August 31st, 2010
by HarperTeen

Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie’s always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours, but still. Normal.

Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie’s dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

They tell me it’s fun, original and full of awesomesauce – so why haven’t I read it yet!? Too. Many. Book. ! 🙂 I’ll get to it soon though since the 3rd is coming out.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Supernaturally (Evie’s decisions and the way she acted drove me crazy), but Paranormalcy? So funny and awesome. It was just completely different from what I expected out of a paranormal book. Still really looking forward to Endlessly (love the cover!!).

Paranormalcy and Supernaturally are fun. They’re light and breezy and quick – really wonderful to read between heavier books. Like if you’re coming off of something that sort of sucked the life out of you or that took a long time or that you really didn’t like…Evie is fun as a character and her story is enjoyable. So I say give it a go, but I recommend it between heavier reads. Because it is really a wonderfully light and fun series!

@ Ashley @ Book Labyrinth: My GR friends have also been saying book 2 wasn’t as good and some were very disapointed. Hopefully book 3 will make up for it.

@Asheley (@BookwormAsheley) I’ve heard that before -to read them between heavier stuff so it lightens the mood. I’ll actually be reading it sooner rather than later because I’m just in need of something like that 🙂

@Maji Bookshelf: Yes! Your review actually reminded me that I had this still on my shelf!

Oh, I just bought Paranormalcy on Friday! I’m excited to read it, but I’m kind of saving it for when I feel like light/fluffy 😀

I also want to read it before bk 3 comes out, and catching up feels like too much of a chore 😀

I loved Paranormalcy! When I read it a few months ago, I thought I was the only person left who hadn’t read it lol. It’s a great read, but I hear you – so many books, not enough hours in the day! I haven’t read the second book yet because my library doesn’t have it, but I’m hoping to get it soon!

I haven’t gotten around to this series, either. The covers are pretty, but… It just doesn’t catch me, I don’t know why. I might have to read them at some point, even if it’s only to see what the hype is all about, though.

    Great pick!

I just listened to this and Supernaturally on audiobook and loved it. The girl who narrated it was perfect for Evie! Hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to read it!

I’ll be the 100th person to say Paranormalcy is fun. Evie is a really likeable character; she has a lot in common with Season 1/2 Buffy.
