Legend

Marie Lu

What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths – until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

I write young adult novels, and have a special love for dystopian books. Ironically, I was born in 1984. Before becoming a full-time writer, I was an Art Director at a video game company where I enjoyed discussing Facebook game apps with my co-workers, hearing amusing insider stories about World of Warcraft bugs, and delighting in cute 3D renditions of buildings–all via Skype. Now I shuffle around at home and talk to myself a lot. 🙂

My wallet is weeping. I want Legend, Angel of Darkness, Catching Jordan and The Merchant’s Daughter. They all sound totally fabulous. How am I ever going to find time to read all of this even if I buy it? Eek!

Yay! I’ve been waiting for another one of your Fresh Batch posts.

A lot of great books out this week. Ugh! it’s torture!
I really want to read Legend! I love the US cover more than the UK one. It’s my first time to hear of Protection for Hire and I love the cover, and it sounds interesting. Hmmm…To buy or not to buy?

P.S. Please remove the purchase button. It’s tempting me. LOL.

Thanks for the info, Giselle! ^_^

I love these types of posts! I always like knowing the current or just releases of the week – always helps with that ever growing Wishlist! lol. I definitely would love to get my hands on Legend (the US cover lol) and Kiss of Frost as well (seeing as I have the first one still sitting on my to-read shelf). And Catching Jordan has actually caught my eye as well, Im not into the whole Chick Lit. genre but I have been coming out of my shell a bit more and I think I might try it out! lol. Thanks for all the updates! 🙂

I have to read Legend. I have an ARC for it, and still have not gotten to it yet. I also am really curious about Catching Jordan, I will probably hate it, but there are parts that really intrigue me.
