Waiting on Wednesday (12)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

                                 Something Strange and Deadly

                                 Susan Dennard

                                 Release date: July 24th, 2012

There’s something strange and deadly loose in Philadelphia…

Eleanor Fitt has a lot to worry about. Her brother has gone missing, her family has fallen on hard times, and her mother is determined to marry her off to any rich young man who walks by. But this is nothing compared to what she’s just read in the newspaper—

The Dead are rising in Philadelphia.

And then, in a frightening attack, a zombie delivers a letter to Eleanor…from her brother.

Whoever is controlling the Dead army has taken her brother as well. If Eleanor is going to find him, she’ll have to venture into the lab of the notorious Spirit-Hunters, who protect the city from supernatural forces. But as Eleanor spends more time with the Spirit-Hunters, including their maddeningly stubborn yet handsome inventor, Daniel, the situation becomes dire. And now, not only is her reputation on the line, but her very life may hang in the balance.

I’ve heard of this before but hadn’t know the title or seen the cover at the time. Sounds interesting, I am still on the fence if I want to read it. I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Brains are a beautiful thing! 😀

I like a lot of stuff about this. I love the whole zombie thing, obviously. It looks like the time period will be interesting — a long dress and concerns about reputation make me figure that things are either not for our time or that disaster has caused society to revert.

Plus it takes place in Philadelphia, which is near where Jay lives (which got him interested).

Should be a fun read. Great pick! 🙂

I’m not a zombie fan, but this does sound good and the cover is freaking awesome. This may be the second zombie book I read–ever! Nice choice.
