Waiting on Wednesday (8)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

                                    Hollow

                                    Richard Denney

                                    Release date: May 8th, 2012

Welcome to the house of Hollow.

In a dystopian future, sixteen year old Leah Munro has been sold to a rich woman in a crippling mansion. Soon Leah discovers that there is something mysterious going on around the home, and with the help of three other girls, she attempts to uncover what is truly happening… what lies beyond all of the plexiglass windows and the hideous screams in the middle of the night?

Leah will soon find out.

Add it to your Goodreads to-read shelf.

Ok, I will admit, I’m guilty of cover shopping. If I love a book cover, I will want to know what it’s about and most likely give it a read (I still read ugly cover books, don’t worry!). When I saw Hollow on Goodreads a few months ago I was instantly attracted to it. Then, to my surprise, I discovered it was a dystopian: I LOVE dystopians! I know, Right? This was clearly meant to be!

Any purty covers on your waiting list this Wednesday?

The cover is gorgeous!! And the dystopian hook is what also lured me in too. I’m a sucker for a well developed dystopian. I’m so curious to learn what the mysterious things going on are…. hideous screams in the middle of the night? Creepy!

Oh, great pick 😀 That book seems great 🙂
Thank you for commenting on my WoW. <3 And it is awesome that you finally have Clockwork Angel 😀 I think you'll love it. <3

Ha! I was going to choose this book as my WoW but as you can see, I chose wnterling. I am soo waiting for this book. For some reason it reminds me of Wither.

That cover is gorgeous! I’m a cover shopper as well, if the cover is pretty i’m more likely to pick it up and read the back. But like you said I will read anything that sounds good, no matter the cover! Great pick, just added it to my to-read shelf!

Haha, it’s totally understandable. Sometimes books just have the most gorgeous covers. I’m currently taking a magazine design and production class, and one section I decided to include in my mock magazine was a top 5 covers.

As for this book, it sounds … vaguely intriguing. I’ll definitely be adding it to my tbr, but I think I’m on the cuff as to if I believe it’ll be fantastic or not. I’m just hoping for a good read.

Thanks for stopping by my WoW.

I am SO guilty of pretty cover shopping! I do it all the time =) This book has double the points though because its dystopian too. How much better can it get?

I don’t know but this somehow sounds like Lauren DeStefano’s Wither – girl sold off to rich/influential person; an stifling mansion with a sinister aura; and a bunch of girl friends who helped the MC explore/escape said mansion. But spot on about the cover. It’s gorgeous. 🙂

Aw, so you’re not a total shallow cover slut like me. I have to admit, I DO judge a book by its cover. I can’t help it. I’ll only pick up an ugly-covered book if it has great recommendations. Hollow definitely has a sinfully spectacular cover, but you know what’s funny, I apparently have run across this already and to-read-ed it on Goodreads. I swear, sometimes I do too many things unconsciously *lol*

    ANYWAY, lovely pick, of course.

I’m the same way about covers. You want to get my attention? Give me a pretty cover! This sounds like a good read, too. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  10. Angie

Thanks for commenting on my WOW! Read The Demon-Trapper’s Daughter first as it’s the first in the series. Soul Thief comes afterwards.

I haven’t heard of Hallow. Love the cover! I’ve added it to my to-read list.

  11. Jacquelynne

I am a sucker for a beautiful cover!! It is definitely one of my guilty pleasures!! lol. This book on the other hand sounds like something I would highly enjoy! I love dystopian, I love a good mystery and the cover beautiful! lol. Fantastic choice for this weeks WoW!

  12. Justin941

This book sounds like it could be really good. And I agree, the cover is great. I am guilty of judging a book by it’s cover sometimes too. 😛

  13. Barbara

Definitely a pretty, pretty cover! Ever since I read Wither, I’m looking for more dystopians too. I’m adding this to my wishlist pile at GR!

  14. Liz. R

I’m waiting on this one too, and I admit it’s because I was taken in by the cover :P. It’s so pretty! The books does sound great though.

  15. Mimi Valentine

LOL I’m the exact same way! I don’t NOT read a good book just because it has an ugly cover, but I’m more likely to check out a book if the cover is gorgeous! x) And this one is SO pretty! Plus, it’s a dystopian too? That’s like a double whammy!

Awesome pick for your WOW, Giselle! Thanks so much for stopping by! I can’t wait to read this one now too! 🙂

  16. Alyssa (Reader's Refuge)

This sounds awesome. For some reason, it reminds me a little of Jane Eyre, with the weird noises at night. 😛 I love dystopians too, so this one is definitely going on the “to read” list. Awesome pick!

  17. Marla

That is a pretty cover! I actually never would have pegged it for a dystopian novel, though. Very interesting. Thanks for stopping by!

  18. Deea

Wow, gorgeous cover! I will admit it too, it’s what drew me to this book when I first noticed it as well! And I’m getting more and more interested in dystopians, so I’ll add this one to my TBR list! Sounds awesome!

    Great pick!

  19. Sandy

Haha you’re not alone in the cover shopping sin I tend to do it as well but like you ugly covers don’t stop me from reading a book if it sounds good. I’ve seen this book around on the internet it reminds me a little of Wither but that’s not surprising since they are both dystopian. Thanks for stopping by my blog, the cover of Touch of Power I used was the UK version which is the one I am hoping to get 🙂

I’m a cover shopper, too – if a cover is horrible, I always have doubts that the book will be good! This one looks amazing – cover and story! Thanks for visiting my site. 🙂

  21. melannie (:

yes! I confess that I also buy books because of their gorgeous covers!

And thank you for the ‘add this book’ link!
I love it when a bloggers does that!

  22. Laura

This is great pick, and I admit too that I am all about the covers too. Alot of times that is the only reason I pick up a book to check it out!
Thanks for stopping by my blog

  23. Lisa Mandina

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I’m following you now as well. I actually just saw this book on Goodreads today as I was scrolling through the giveaways. As I love dystopian stories, it grabbed me right away.

  24. Melanie

The cover model kind of looks like Emma Stone. I love me a dystopian, so I’m going to keep an eye out for this one. Sounds a bit like a modern Jane Eyre.
