Waiting on Wednesday (9)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

                                    Cursed

                                    Jennifer L. Armentrout

                                    Release date: September 18th, 2012

Dying sucks–and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things–including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden’s adopted father, a man she’s sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister’s hand again. And hell, she’d also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn’t?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not’ve been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

Jennifer blew me away with her novel Obsidian, so I was very happy when I noticed that she had this book coming out next year (PS: this is not the sequel – it’s a stand-alone (for now)). Jennifer is a great author so I can count on this being fantastic! I still have to read her Half-Blood series as well. You can find my review of Obsidian here.

What’s your pick this wonderfully cold Wednesday?

I am super excited for this! I finished Half-Blood today and loved it, so I’m definitely going to read anything else Jennifer writes. Dying to get my hands on Obsidian – NATURALLY! <3 And Cursed sounds amazing!

  2. Ron C. Nieto

Obsidian is a bit further from my comfor zone than I’m comfortable with, but this one sounds right up my alley! The cover’s gorgeous as well, so… I’m all for it!

    Thanks for sharing!

Great pick giselle . Inormally dont like books about coming back from the dead, but then the books that talk about killing people by touching them (like shatter me)blow my mind, so I will definitely give this book a try. Check out mine here

  4. Jenny

SO EXCITED FOR THIS! Awesome choice Giselle, I’m a huge Jennifer fan girl, I adored Half-Blood and have heard nothing but good things about Obsidian so I can’t wait for anything and everything she writes:)

I LOVE your blog by the way! I’m following you now 😀
PS-How did you get that flashy widget thing with your reviews on the top

  6. Nina

I’m a huge fan of Rogue from X-Men and her ability to suck the life out of anyone she touches, so this sounds like something I need to read!

@ Giselle: If you ever want to try some Stephen King, Firestarter and Misery are good starters to see if you like him. No need to start out with the 1000p+ books right away:P

  7. Unabridged Bookshelf

I have heard great things about Jennifer, and her novels. I am excited to read Half Blood, and I want to read Obsidian. Now I am putting Cursed on my list too! Thank you for turning me on to a new book, and for stopping by Unabridged Bookshelf

This book is on my TBR list. I love the cover sometimes i fall in love w/covers instead of the book but this one sounds really interesting. The plot is original to me at least, nice pick.

  16. Books4Juliet

It looks good! I’ll put this on my TBR! I haven’t read any of her books, but my friend Angela (of Reading Angel) love love love all Jennifer’s books. She sent me Half-Blood (across the miles) and I hope to receive it soon. I just downloaded Daimon so I can read it while waiting for Half-Blood. I’m sure this one will be good too! Thanks for sharing!

  19. Sandy

Her book Half-Blood is on my TBR but this is my first time hearing about this book and it sounds so good! Ember’s power sort of remind me of Rogue’s from X-Men but a whole lot worse I want to know how it can possibly be seen as a gift. Adding this to my TBR!
