Flavour of the week:

The Catastrophic History of You and Me

Jess Rothenberg
Goodreads / Purchase

BRIE’S LIFE ENDS AT SIXTEEN: Her boyfriend tells her he doesn’t love her, and the news breaks her heart—literally.

But now that she’s D&G (dead and gone), Brie is about to discover that love is way more complicated than she ever imagined. Back in Half Moon Bay, her family has begun to unravel. Her best friend has been keeping a secret about Jacob, the boy she loved and lost—and the truth behind his shattering betrayal. And then there’s Patrick, Brie’s mysterious new guide and resident Lost Soul . . . who just might hold the key to her forever after.

With Patrick’s help, Brie will have to pass through the five stages of grief before she’s ready to move on. But how do you begin again, when your heart is still in pieces?

Catastrophic History of You and Me book trailer:

Jess Rothenberg grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, graduated from Vassar College, and spent most of her twenties editing books for teens and middle grade readers (like the bestselling titles VAMPIRE ACADEMY, STRANGE ANGELS, and I AM A GENIUS OF UNSPEAKABLE EVIL & I WANT TO BE YOUR CLASS PRESIDENT, to name just a few). She lives in Brooklyn where she writes full-time, dances interpretively, and dreams of one day owning a sheepdog named Leo.

Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago – surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

Tess, an aspiring seamstress, thinks she’s had an incredibly lucky break when she is hired by famous designer Lady Lucile Duff Gordon to be a personal maid on the Titanic’s doomed voyage. Once on board, Tess catches the eye of two men, one a roughly-hewn but kind sailor and the other an enigmatic Chicago millionaire. But on the fourth night, disaster strikes.

The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Ritually murdered corpses are appearing across Cincinnati, terrifying amalgams of human and other. Pulled in to help investigate by the FIB, former witch turned day-walking demon Rachel Morgan soon realizes a horrifying truth–a would-be creator is determined to make his (or her) own demons.

So excited for Shadows!!! I am seriously going to drop whatever I am reading just to read that on Tuesday. I still haven’t read Wither, but I pre-ordered Fever. I am going to start Wither Sunday or Monday I think. My reading funk kinda got me behind, so I night not end up getting to Wither and Fever yet though. The Catstrophic History of You and Me sounds awesome, and the trailer makes me want to read it even more. Isn’t the novella for Touch coming out too? Untouched I think. So many good books.

I can’t WAIT for Shadows! I love anything Jennifer L. Armentrout writes and I’m really looking forward to reading it. 😀 I also can’t wait to get my hands on Fever!

  3. Maja

I loved The Catastrophic History! It was one of the cutest books I’ve read in a long while, but it also had surprisingly dark moments!
Of all the others, I’m really interested in Double. Ohh, my poor tbr.:)

  4. Lexie

The Catastrophic History of You and Me looks SO GOOD. I just love the whole concept of it, and that cover is absolutely lovely. I also love the sound of A Beautiful Evil and Double. I really need more money so I can just go to B&N and buy all of these.

Oooh, all the pretties! ::makes grabby hands::

I think The Catastrophic History of You and Me sounds AMAZING!

I think I will add Double and The Dressmaker to my To-Read List 🙂

Great features, Giselle! Thanks for sharing <3

  6. Book Sake

I want to read The Catastrophic History of You and Me, but every time I see that cover I think “what are those things in the background”. At first I thought it was some strange attempt at wings – then when I saw another book, with the same photo minus the fog (can’t remember the book, another new release though) I realized it was a bridge!
