Fresh Batch (September 23rd – 29th)

Posted by

Exclusively titled for Xpresso Reads, Fresh Batch features the hottest releases of this upcoming week.

Flavor of the week:

Alice in Zombieland
Gena Showalter
Publication date: September 25th 2012
by Harlequin Teen

She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

Alice in Zombieland book trailer:

Gena Showalter sold her first book at the age of 27 and now, four years later, is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of thirteen books, with eleven more on the way in a thrilling blend of genres: breathtaking paranormal and contemporary romances, cutting edge young adult novels, and stunning urban fantasy. Her novels have appeared in Cosmopolitan Magazine, MTV, Seventeen Magazine, and have been translated in French, Italian and Korean. The critics have called her books “sizzling page-turners” and “utterly spellbinding stories”, while Showalter herself has been called “a star on the rise”.

WOW there are so many books I’m dying to read releasing this week 🙂 !! I can’t wait to read Alice in Zombieland because everyone is raving about good this book is !!

  2. Amy

Holy Hell that’s a lot of books. Crap, 3 of those I still need to read and review lol!! I got a bit behind on my reading the past few weeks.

  3. kelseysclutteredbookshelf

I have Scorch pre-ordered from a while ago, but I’m trying to be good and still not buy books, but there’s so many good looking ones!
I like both versions of how you do this post, so I think whichever is easier for you, go for that one.

  4. Kathy Ann Coleman

A great week to have all my pre-beta edits done. I can reward myself with some of these and will actually have the time to read them. 😀

    What do I want?

    (For Sure):

    — Alice in Zombieland (I absolutely love Gena Showalter. I’ve been a fan of hers for years and actually wrote to her (and got a response) nearly ten years ago. I still look at that when I’m having trouble with my writing. I find her incredibly inspiring.

    — The Mephisto Kiss (I think I 3 hearted The Mephisto Covenant, but I did really enjoy it. Plus, Trinity is another really awesome author and since I did like her first book in the series, getting the second with these two things combined is an easy decision.)

    — Dearly, Beloved (Oh my God how did I not know this was releasing?! Dearly, Departed was one of my absolute favorite books last year and I’ve been waiting for this for AGES. Absolutely must get this day one.)

    (Might Get):

The Casual Vacancy (Did I love Harry Potter? Sure. But when authors go to different genres one cannot always follow them. I’ll have to see what people think of this before I rush out and grab it.)

Conjure (Has an interesting premise and a pretty / moody cover. This looks like it could be my kinda thing so I’ll be keeping an eye on it.)

Wolf Pact (I like Melissa de la Cruz Blue Bloods series so I may have to see what this is.)

    ***

As far as the format goes, it has its strengths and weaknesses. I like being able to clearly see who the author is and what the title is. On the other hand, I miss the snippets of description. I know I can click the links to see what a book is about, but the descriptions made deciding whether to look forward go quicker for me. On the other hand, they are likely a pain for you.

Either way, I still love this feature and it looks like there are some great things releasing this week. 😀

  5. Silverlight

Alice is a must buy this week!!

Format- Either way works, but, I actually like this one better, seeing all those covers, side by side *cover whore* to compare…

    Thanks!!!!!

  6. Ems

Lots of new books to add to my TBR list. Good thing I’ve been weeding the list regularly, because it just keeps growing!

I like this new format. 🙂

  7. Mel - Thedailyprophecy.

I like this format! I think it spares you time, doesn’t it? 🙂 It’s so easy to see all the great books.

Alice in Zombieland, FINALLY <3 In a glass grimmly is also high on my list; I loved the first one. The turning sounds so creepy 😀 The blessed and Falling to Ash look great 🙂
