Waiting on Wednesday (56)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

Dance of the Red Death

Bethany Griffin
Release date: April 23rd 2013

The sequel to Masque of the Red Death, which Melissa Marr called, “Haunting and beautiful.” Araby Worth is poised either to save her city, or to abandon it. In a novel that embodies dark, sexy, tragic, and fearless, Bethany Griffin concludes her incredible, atmospheric reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic short story.

Araby Worth’s city is on fire. Her brother is dead. Her best friend could be soon. Her mother is a prisoner, her father is in hiding. And the two boys who stole her heart have both betrayed her. But Araby has found herself, and she is going to fight back. Inspired by one of Edgar Allan Poe’s most compelling stories, “The Masque of the Red Death,” Bethany Griffin has spun two sultry and intricate novels about a young woman who finds herself on the brink of despair but refuses to give in. Decadent masquerades, steamy stolen moments, and sweeping action are set in a city crumbling from neglect and tragedy. A city that seeps into your skin. Dance of the Red Death is the riveting conclusion to the dark and fascinating saga of an unforgettable heroine

Look at this cover! *drool* I really enjoyed the first one, mostly for its dark, dreary, and extremely vivid atmosphere, so I’m looking forward to getting back into it. Masque also has one of my favorite covers of all time, so it really surprises me that the sequel looks just as awesome! And in print, that font sticks out and shines (I imagine it’s like the first)! It is just so pretty!!!

DotRD has been a really popular pick this week! It does look pretty cool and the cover is very well done. Thanks for sharing! ^.^ If you’d like to check out my Waiting On Wednesday post you can do so here. 🙂

Wow this cover is absolutely stunning Giselle! I still have to pick up Masque of the Red Death, but this sounds fantastic too! Thanks for sharing it with us! 🙂

  3. Dani @ Refracted Light

Argh! I really need to sit down and just read the first book, because I’ve been dying to, unfortunately the reading schedule has been a bit packed as of late 😛 lol Both books sound amazing though, and I like the sound of a dark, atmospheric novel 🙂 Great pick!

Omg thank you for featuring this one! I read the first book and loved it, and I knew there was going to be a second book, but I kind of forgot about it. Anyway, awesome pick, and thanks for sharing!! 🙂

I picked the same thing for my WoW!! It is all matchy with my gorgeous blog design too! 😉 I seriously can’t wait to get this!

  6. Sam

I’m not a huge fan of the cover, if I’m being honest. It just looks a little badly fan-made to me. 😀 I’m not sure if I’ll be reading this but I’m looking forward to seeing what you make of it. 🙂

I’m still debating whether I should get the first book yet. 😛 This cover’s lovely, though! I love the tagline and how it ties in with the first book’s cover. 🙂

    Awesome pick, Giselle!

Your WoW banner really augments the book cover this week! The tag line “rebellion is contagious” gets me curious… what does that mean? Does it mean Araby is the rebel? I guess I’ll have to start reading the series to find out. Thanks for sharing, Giselle!

Oh my god I didn’t know it finally had a cover!! o.O *stares* I finally got around to reading ‘Masque’ a few weeks ago and fell in love with the world Bethany Griffin created. Definitely can’t wait for the sequel/conclusion! April is way too far off *sigh*

OMG that has to be one of THE prettiest covers I’ve ever seen ♥ It’s JUST as beautiful as Masque of the Red Death too, you’re right! (Which I still haven’t read btw but it’s WAY on top of my ‘to-buy-next’ shelf. I remember your review so I’m pumped 😀 Thanks for sharing Giselle!

  11. Elodie

This cover looks even more stunning than the Masque of the Red Death one !! I need to read the first book but that’s a really nice pick Giselle 🙂

  12. Jenni @ Alluring Reads

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one (as you know) but I did definitely enjoy the world building, I think I will read this one if only for that. But if the MC drives me crazy again it’s getting put down right quick!

  13. Kit Grindstaff

Thanks for reminding me to read MASQUE before this one comes out! It’s lost somewhere in mid-teetering-tbr pile. But this sounds too good not to read soon after it comes out…

  14. Martina Koleva

I haven’t had the chance to read book one of the series yet so I’m not really looking forward to this one yet but I’ll definitely read book one and if I like it, this one is going on my to-read list right away! Great pick. I hope you like it when it comes out.
Come check out my WOW post.
