Waiting on Wednesday (65)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

Insomnia

J.R. Johansson
Release date: June 8th 2013
 by Flux

It’s been four years since I slept, and I suspect it is killing me.

Instead of sleeping, Parker Chipp enters the dream of the last person he’s had eye contact with. He spends his nights crushed by other people’s fear and pain, by their disturbing secrets—and Parker can never have dreams of his own. The severe exhaustion is crippling him. If nothing changes, Parker could soon be facing psychosis and even death.

Then he meets Mia. Her dreams, calm and beautifully uncomplicated, allow him blissful rest that is utterly addictive. Parker starts going to bizarre lengths to catch Mia’s eye every day. Everyone at school thinks he’s gone over the edge, even his best friend. And when Mia is threatened by a true stalker, everyone thinks it’s Parker.

Suffering blackouts, Parker begins to wonder if he is turning into someone dangerous. What if the monster stalking Mia is him after all?

Dude! This cover! YES!!

What are you waiting on, this week?

WOAH @_@ that cover SO goes with the book. The book itself sounds SO CREEPY and twisted and DEFINITIVELY my type of book! The cover conveys exactly how i would feel about the story. Great pick this week Giselle!

I am super curious about this, but I think I’ll be smart and hold out for reviews. Oh wait, Flux doesn’t give me things, so I’ll definitely do that. :-p

I featured this last week. Been waiting since before the cover released! It is a freaky one! I just love the idea of visiting others dreams. Parker would probably get a kick out of my dreams. lol I wonder why Mia has such perfect dream. You would think everyone would have a mix of happy and sad dreams.

This sounds amazing! I’m definitely adding it to my wish list. The cover is sufficiently terrifying, and being trapped in others’ dreams? Creepy! Great pick =)

I love that your statment for wanting this was so short. That’s all that needs to be said really, b/c it’s an awesome cover.

I love the sound of this though. Hadn’t heard of it before, so thanks for putting it in my path. Adding to wish list now!

OMG I’ve never heard of anything like this before! What an awesome idea for an ability/curse of sorts! I can’t imagine what it must be like to never truly sleep and never have dreams of one’s own o.O Also, I love books where the reliability of the narrator is in question, and this one might go in that direction. Thanks so much for spotlighting it, and for visiting my blog earlier 🙂
