Waiting on Wednesday (78)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:
Made of Stars
Kelley York
Genre: YA Thriller
Publication date: October 1st, 2013
by Entangled Teen

When eighteen-year-old Hunter Jackson and his half sister, Ashlin, return to their dad’s for the first winter in years, they expect everything to be just like the warmer months they’d spent there as kids. And it is—at first. But Chance, the charismatic and adventurous boy who made their summers epic, is harboring deep secrets. Secrets that are quickly spiraling into something else entirely.

The reason they’ve never met Chance’s parents or seen his home is becoming clearer. And what the siblings used to think of as Chance’s quirks—the outrageous stories, his clinginess, his dangerous impulsiveness—are now warning signs that something is seriously off.

Then Chance’s mom turns up with a bullet to the head, and all eyes shift to Chance and his dad. Hunter and Ashlin know Chance is innocent…they just have to prove it. But how can they protect the boy they both love when they can’t trust a word Chance says?

I loved Kelley’s other novel, Hushed, when I read it last year so from the moment I saw that she was coming out with a new one I have been pining for it. I loved Hushed for its originality and dark tone so I know she can write a mean thriller!
What are you waiting on, this Wednesday?

I haven’t heard about this book until now! I’ve heard numerous amazing things about Hushed, and I’m glad to hear that Kelley York can write a mean thriller! This one sounds really mysterious; from the synopsis, I’m already curious about Chance and who he is. Brilliant pick this week, Giselle! Thanks for sharing (and I’m always happy when you do a WoW)!

Is it normal that I have read nothing by this author? I feel so behind in books these days -.- Great choice though, this book sounds creepily intriguing!
I had my TT schelduled for yesterday at 11.30 but it never showed :O in fact, it just disappeared completely :/ Stupid blogger *punches computer* *screams at the pain in the fist*

This is the first time I am hearing of this book. I am definitely intrigued! I haven’t read or heard of hushed either (maybe I live under a rock). Two new books to the TBR please! Thanks for sharing!

Oooh loving the new banner ♥!! It’s sexy and sassy 😀

Cool pick, I’m really digging the cover and the premise definitely sounds creepy and possibly quite disturbing. Hope you’ll love it haha >.< you know me…curious about the plot but too chicken to find out the truth o.O

Okay, so I haven’t exactly had great experiences with Entangled’s books, but this one sounds really good. Like, abnormally good. I haven’t read any of Kelley York’s other books either, so I’m looking forward to this one!

    Thanks for sharing, Giselle. 😀

Wow this sounds like a genuinely creepy thriler! I’d never heard of it before, thanks for bringing it to my attention. 🙂

  10. Nereyda @Mostly YA Book Obsessed

Oh I remember Hushed! I love it and remember thinking to myself, wow this is dark! I was so excited because most YA is so fluffy nowaways. Great pick, I kind of forgot about this author. Gonna have to go check out her books again.

  11. Shooting Stars Mag

I love that both brother and sister love Chance. Always a unique addition to YA. I want to read more thrillers too, so this sounds great for that. I’ve been meaning to read Hushed.

I still recall your review for Hushed and how much you loved it! So hopefully this will be just as good for you! As for me, I’ll definitely have to check out this author’s work sometime if you think so highly of her!
