Waiting on Wednesday (80)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:
All the Truth That’s In Me
Julie Berry
Genre: YA Contemporary
Publication date: September 26th 2013
by Viking Juvenile

Four years ago, Judith and her best friend disappeared from their small town of Roswell Station. Two years ago, only Judith returned, permanently mutilated, reviled and ignored by those who were once her friends and family. Unable to speak, Judith lives like a ghost in her own home, silently pouring out her thoughts to the boy who’s owned her heart as long as she can remember—even if he doesn’t know it—her childhood friend, Lucas. But when Roswell Station is attacked, long-buried secrets come to light, and Judith is forced to choose: continue to live in silence, or recover her voice, even if it means changing her world, and the lives around her, forever.

This startlingly original novel will shock and disturb you; it will fill you with Judith’s passion and longing; and its mysteries will keep you feverishly turning the pages until the very last

Falling back on my good old contemporaries that will, I’m sure, have a much better outcome than dystopians lately. I’m telling you I get nauseous at the thought of having to read another dystopian novel. But anyways, the blurb says I will be shocked and disturbed, and that is all I really need to know! >.< Plus I'm kind of loving this cover–it does reminds me a little of Slated but I do prefer this one, I'm liking the red and white contrast.
What are you waiting on, this Wednesday?

At first glance this actually looks like a New Adult novel. Anyhow, this book actually sounds kinda really creepy.. :O I’m curious to read it now though, it sounds a bit like a mystery/psychological thriller which I love! Thanks for sharing and great pick, Giselle! 🙂

  2. Shooting Stars Mag

It does remind me of Slated, now that you mention it (the cover I mean) but I like this one better because it seems more brutal, you know? Hadn’t heard of this one but I’d love to read it now. A good contemporary is always up my alley.

  3. Danny

Wow! I haven’t heard of this before but it sounds awesome!!! I mean, the blurb sounds great already and yes, I’m right here to be shocked and distrubed!!

  4. Mary @ BookSwarm

I want to take Judith in and give her tea and cookies and tuck a fuzzy blanket around her! As long as she isn’t a killer, that is. Did she kill her friend? How did she get mutilated? WHAT’S GOING ON?!?

  5. Nick

Oh wow! This sounds so good. Contemporaries are a lot more interesting than the dystopians we’ve been reading lately.
And you’re reading Easy! Yay! 🙂

  6. Book Swoon

Sounds mysterious for sure. Two girls disappearing and only one returns, mutilated? I love the cover too. Great pick, hope you enjoy being “shocked and disturbed.” 🙂

  7. Bookish

This is the first time I’ve heard of this book but I’ve just preordered it as it sounds like something I would love and anything original can’t be bad!

    My WoW!

  8. Megan K.

Oh. My. Gosh. This sounds amazing. Especially this: “Two years ago, only Judith returned, permanently mutilated, reviled and ignored by those who were once her friends and family.” Okay, the inner sick-o in me is really intrigued by how Judith was mutilated. Adding this to be to-read pile for sure!

  9. Micheline D

Just looking at this cover I can see why you picked it 😀 But then the synopsis made it sound all the more up your alley!! I hope this one delivers for you and I can’t wait to read your review already. Nice pick!

  10. Sirtsu

That. Cover. *drools* O_O I love it!!! I’ve yet to read Blood Red Road, The Immortal Rules and Insurgent which are all sitting on my shelf as we speak so I’m not short on dystopians, but I will say that you got me hooked, Giselle! It sounds good and did I mention the cover already? Gahhh!! It’s fantastic! I, too, love it more than Slated btw:) Thanks for sharing, babe!

  11. Hollie

This sounds absolutely amazing. It sounds so creepy and really compelling…I’ll definitely be adding this to my tbr pile! Thanks for the introduction!

  12. Eileen

Ooh I agree with you; the dystopian genre is kind of starting to fizzle out, which is really sad because I was actually really excited for a lot of the releases coming out this year. But this one sounds absolutely amazing so I hope you enjoy it! Great pick Giselle!

  13. Jasprit

I thought the cover looked familiar, but I have to agree, I do prefer this cover a lot more to Slated, I think I need more shocking and disturbing reads too, so will definitely have to keep an eye out for this around its release date! Thanks for putting this on my radar Giselle! 🙂

  14. Lauren Elizabeth

I love the sound of this story! I’m with you, I need a good contemp breather; I’ve been reading SO much sci-fi/dystopian lately. Amazing pick, thanks for sharing! (PS- sorry for comment bombing you today, I’ve been on vacay and am catching up on what I missed while I was away :D)
