The Book of Broken Hearts
Sarah Ockler
Publication date: May 21st 2013
by Simon Pulse

When all signs point to heartbreak, can love still be a rule of the road? A poignant and romantic novel from the author of Bittersweet and Twenty Boy Summer.

Jude has learned a lot from her older sisters, but the most important thing is this: The Vargas brothers are notorious heartbreakers. She’s seen the tears and disasters that dating a Vargas boy can cause, and she swore an oath—with candles and a contract and everything—to never have anything to do with one.

Now Jude is the only sister still living at home, and she’s spending the summer helping her ailing father restore his vintage motorcycle—which means hiring a mechanic to help out. Is it Jude’s fault he happens to be cute? And surprisingly sweet? And a Vargas?

Jude tells herself it’s strictly bike business with Emilio. Her sisters will never find out, and Jude can spot those flirty little Vargas tricks a mile away—no way would she fall for them. But Jude’s defenses are crumbling, and if history is destined to repeat itself, she’s speeding toward some serious heartbreak…unless her sisters were wrong?

Jude may have taken an oath, but she’s beginning to think that when it comes to love, some promises might be worth breaking.

Sarah Ockler is the bestselling author of novels for teens, including Bittersweet, Fixing Delilah, and the critically acclaimed Twenty Boy Summer, a YALSA Teens’ Top Ten nominee and IndieNext List pick. Her latest, The Book of Broken Hearts, hits the shelves in May 2013.

Sarah is a champion cupcake eater, coffee drinker, night person, and bookworm. When she’s not writing or reading at home in Colorado, she enjoys taking pictures, hugging trees, and road-tripping through the country with her husband, Alex.

The Book of Broken Hearts sounds so good!! Ohhh I am jumping up and down for September Girls!! *gag* *rolls eyes* Absent was good. My review for that goes up Monday. I have the Audiobook of Transparent that I am going to be getting to next. I also have an ARC of Night School and Dark Shore that I got last week. I still haven’t read The Lost Code yet so I need to read that first. Or just give away Dark Shore. It sounds interesting though, so I might get the first one from the library.

Night School and Absent are the ones I’m looking forward to the most!! Cannot wait to get my hands on copies of these. Transparent also looks quite good but I’m in no real rush to read it.

The Book of Broken Hearts is what I want this week! Oh, I’m well aware to stay as far from September Girls as possible 😀

Hmm, not really excited for any of these – except Thousand Words – so I’m sure I’ll be able to save some money this week! 😛 I’m still unsure about Transparent, having heard some negative reviews, but we’ll see.

I’m reading The Dark Shore right now, and it’s fantastic. A great follow-up to The Lost Code.

I keep thinking I need to read some Sarah Ockler – all I hear are good things.

This is going to be a great bookish week!

Woah. New Tolkien and I didn’t even know it O.O Adding it to the list fo sho! Night School is another one I’m really curious about! The Bane Chronicles have me conflicted – on the one hand, Magnus is like my favorite character but I’m annoyed that it’s like…10 parts and you’d have to buy them all for like $2-$3 bucks a pop…so like $30 total – imho, CC needs to quit already but whatever bahaha. The Neptune Project sounds cool too, lots of interesting releases this week! Thanks for sharing ♥
