Flavor of the week:

The 5th Wave
Rick Yancey
Series: The 5th Wave, #1
Publication date: May 7th 2013
by Putnam Juvenile

The Passage meets Ender’s Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Rick is a native Floridian and a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago. He earned a B.A. in English which he put to use as a field officer for the Internal Revenue Service. Inspired and encouraged by his wife, he decided his degree might also be useful in writing books and in 2004 he began writing full-time.

Since then he has launched two critically acclaimed series: The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp, for young readers, and The Highly Effective Detective, for adults. Both books are set in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Rick lived for ten years before returning to Florida.

Such a HUGE release week. And it only serves to show me just how far behind I am in my ARCs. I still have not read How My Summer and The End Games. I’m trying to catch up but I suck.

If there’s one book I’m excited for, it’s The 5th Wave. You won’t believe how many rave reviews I’ve seen on it, the lowest being 3.5 stars. So impressive. I’ll definitely be getting it one when it’s released. I’m also super stoked for Icons! I enjoyed Beautiful Creatures by Stohl and Kami Garcia, so I’m hoping her latest book will be good, too. 😀

Ok, so in high school, me and my bff used to have a nickname for people who dressed in like all pink clothing…or pink, purples and all mixed bright colours. We called them Zelda. So imagine my giggling to the book ‘Call Me Zelda when I saw she had a pink dress. *snicker*

Moving on…WOW. So many books coming out this week!! Icons, Invisibility, Chantress (♥), Loki’s Wolves…*makes grabby hands* Reboot & End Games look great too Thanks for sharing doll!!
