Fresh Batch (New Releases June 16th – 22nd)

Exclusively titled for Xpresso Reads, Fresh Batch features the hottest releases of this upcoming week.

Flavor of the week:

Star Cursed
Jessica Spotswood
Series: The Cahill Witch Chronicles #1
Publication date: June 18th, 2013
by Putnam Juvenile

With the Brotherhood persecuting witches like never before, a divided Sisterhood desperately needs Cate to come into her Prophesied powers. And after Cate’s friend Sachi is arrested for using magic, a war-thirsty Sister offers to help her find answers—if Cate is willing to endanger everyone she loves.

Cate doesn’t want to be a weapon, and she doesn’t want to involve her friends and Finn in the Sisterhood’s schemes. But when Maura and Tess join the Sisterhood, Maura makes it clear that she’ll do whatever it takes to lead the witches to victory. Even if it means sacrifices. Even if it means overthrowing Cate. Even if it means all-out war.

In the highly anticipated sequel to Born Wicked, the Cahill Witch Chronicles continue Cate, Maura and Tess’s quest to find love, protect family, and explore their magic against all odds in an alternate history of New England.

I grew up in a tiny one-stoplight town in Pennsylvania, where I could be found swimming, playing clarinet, memorizing lines for the school play, or—most often—with my nose in a book. I’ve been writing since I was little but studied theatre in college and grad school. Now I live in Washington, DC with my brilliant playwright husband and a cuddly cat named Monkey.

Eh, there aren’t many titles I’m waiting on here. I’m currently reading Confessions #1 then #2 for tour and Proxy sounds okay but other than that, a rather dull week for me.

    Thanks for sharing, Giselle! <33

I just got the audio of A Trick of the Light and am really excited to listen to it. I liked Triangles okay, but it didn’t blow me away. Ohh I also have the audio of The Wig in the Window. I was supposed to be getting Vampires, Scones, and Edmund Herondale for audio review too, but I guess the audio won’t be out Tues. like it was supposed to be. Not many other books I’m looking forward to besides Star Cursed.

Solstice is probably my most anticipated out of these. I do see a few that look interesting which I’ll have to check out further and I know at some point I’ll definitely have to get around to Star Cursed but since I still need to read Born Wicked I’m in no real rush to pick it up.

HAH! Finally a week where I don’t want a million things. I only want one book from this week’s pubs, and that is The Wig in the Window. It just looks like such a fun MG!

The only one I’m really looking forward to is Until Fountain Bridge. I loved Ellie and Adam in On Dublin Street.

This week is pretty low key for me, actually. I’m looking forward to reading Star Cursed- it has such a gorgeous cover for one, haha. 😉 It’s going to be interesting to see where the author takes things. Also, I may check out Tarnish, although Gilt definitely wasn’t my favorite book of all time.

    Thanks for sharing, Giselle!! <3

Wow, there are just a LOT of summer releases going on these few months, and I totally loved Confessions of an Almost-Girlfriend I just thought it was so gritty and utterly fantastic! I still have yet to read Born Wicked, let alone Star Cursed, but I actually really like the new covers they’re so pretty and they seem to have some kind of significance to the story although I don’t know what yet lol

Gah! Winter Queen ♥ just seeing that cover makes me drool! I hope it’s as gorgeous on the inside >.< Those Assassin's Curse ones sounds awesome too! Oh and I really need to read something by Neil Gaiman…like yesterday. Thanks for sharing doll xo
