Old Gods never die…

Or so Athena thought. But then the feathers started sprouting beneath her skin, invading her lungs like a strange cancer, and Hermes showed up with a fever eating away his flesh. So much for living a quiet eternity in perpetual health.

Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra—an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god.

These days, Cassandra doesn’t involve herself in the business of gods—in fact, she doesn’t even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning.

Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with other of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these anti-gods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caricatures of their former glory. Athena will need every advantage she can get, because immortals don’t just flicker out.

Every one of them dies in their own way. Some choke on feathers. Others become monsters. All of them rage against their last breath.

The Goddess War is about to begin.

I tire of writing these things in the third person. So. I write fiction, apparently mostly YA. I didn’t know this, but like Stephen King says, writers are the last ones to know what it is they’ve written. My first novel,Sleepwalk Society is a college story. I guess it falls into that no man’s land they call, “New Adult”. Anna Dressed in Blood and Girl of Nightmares are teen horror. My short fiction can be found online in numerous places.

But enough about that. When I am not writing or reading, you can generally find me sitting around wondering what the hell I’m going to do with my life. That, or being a gastronome, plotting a new recipe. Perhaps on a run or hike, playing tennis or watching Big Cat Diaries with my feline. This summer I have saved a total of three turtles during attempted road crossings.

So many great books for next week!
I have Antigoddess on its way to me from TBD and Chaos of Stars preordered on my Kindle! And I read Gold’s ARC and it was fantastic, hopefully I can get my hands on a finished copy soon too!

  2. Kelsey

I really want to read Antigodess! It looks and sounds really good. I have a copy of Rogue already and it was awesome. Nothing else that I need for my collection this week though.

  3. Sam @ Realm of Fiction

Ooh Burial Rites is releasing this week? I loved that book! I’m also really curious about Little Red Lies (love the cover!) and Fangirl (which I’ve heard nothing but good things about). Relativity and More Than This are two others that I need to check out. Lots of exciting titles this month! 🙂

  4. Kezia D

OMG I am soooo excited for Antigoddess!! Been waiting for that forever! I just got the eARC but I haven’t read it yet… Probably next week!

  5. Alise

Wow, what an amazing week of releases, I am so excited for Antigoddess and Chaos of the Stars. Some of these are new to me but I will definitely be checking them out on Goodreads-the covers are so pretty!

  6. Bonnie

The Waking Dark and More Than This were FANTASTIC. Looking forward to the new Ellen Hopkins and Antigodess and I’m currently reading Rose Under Fire and am loving it a lot more than CNV.

  7. Micheline @ Lunar Rainbows

*whew* that’s a lot of new books coming out! I can’t get over how many books come out in September. I think books are trying to kill us all, and The Returned is probably leading the pack. WATCH OUT GISELLE \(O_O)/ *ahem* anyways, yeah I was supposed to have read Fangirl by now but oups…I’m falling behind because of ALL THE BOOKS.

So the only releases this week I really want to get my hands on is The Chaos in Stars and Antigoddess. Any kind of mythology book is a must check out for me, no matter what!

Lots of pretties though, Rose Under Fire, Relativity, Final Descent, Gold, Sign of the Throne and Shadows are especially eye catching ♥
