Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week:

Waiting on Wednesday (101)Midnight Crossroad by Charlaine Harris
Series: ,
Published by Ace Hardcover on May 6th 2014
Genres: Adult, Paranormal
Goodreads

Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town.

There’s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There’s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own).

Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth...

Ok so maybe she brought her Sookie series a few books too far but they are so much fun and especially readable. I just really like her writing style and characters. Plus this blurb is giving me goosebumps so that’s a win so far!

What are you waiting on, this week?

I agree with you that the Sookie series was dragged on unnecessarily, but I’ll probably give this one a try, since I’ve loved many of Charlaine Harris’ series before!

Ooh great pick! I haven’t read the Sookie books but I have been interested in the authors book for a while, perhaps I will start with this one. The book sounds awesomely mysterious 😀

I especially like the last two sentences of the blurb “Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth…” If I was told this in real life, my answer would be “No. No thank you.” *runs away* However, since this is a book, I say “Heck yeah! I would love to stay!”

I had no idea she was starting a new series! I did think True Blood went on a few books too long but I loved it until that point so I’ll definitely be checking this out!

Wow, this one sounds really creepy and mysterious, but I think I’ll check out her Sookie Stackhouse series first before I decide on this one.

I still haven’t read anything from Charlaine Harris and tbh I’d be curious to check out her writing style BEFORE actually attempting to commit to her Sookie books o.O This one sounds deliciously eerie so thanks for bringing it to my attention chick!
