Jenni’s Stacking the Shelves [Feb 2]

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews featuring new additions to our bookshelves.

Hello! This week I’m not doing a vlog because my mouth is all wonky.  If you follow me on Twitter you probably know that I went in a got a tooth pulled at the dentist and I am still talking all weird because of the swollen jaw and such.  The dentist SUCKS! I didn’t get many books this week anyway so it all works out in the end.  Here are the few things I did add to my shelves in the past two weeks:

I came across this boxset at Costco and I can never say no to a good priced set.  It was only $39.99 so I just had to get it. I haven’t read any of the books in this series yet but I had asked on Instagram/Twitter if I should go ahead and buy it and the answer was a resounding yes! I hope I love it as much as the people who told me to buy it!

I got these books from Netgalley this past week. I am super excited for the creepiness conveyed on the covers of The Fever and The Girl From the Well! The Truth About Alice was recommended to me by Bekka of Great Imaginations and since she recommended Waiting to me (which I love, love, loved!) I had to scoop this one up while I still could! Last but not least, Sunrise, I am so nervous/excited to see how this series finishes off!

Big thank you’s to Sourcebooks, Macmillan, Tanglewood Press and Little, Brown and Company this week!

What books did you add to your shelf?

The Truth About Alice looks so interesting! And I got The Fever, so I’m excited to read that as well! And Vampire Academy was such a good series. You might be one of those people that don’t like the first two books, but push through it because the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth book make it all worth it. I loved that series (:

I keep hearing great things about The Truth About Alice, I want to check that out! Can’t wait to hear what you think of it. Enjoy your reads! 🙂

Haha. Fair warning, the first two books are okay, 3-star worthy in VA series. Predictable, Rose can be a bit of a headache, but they’re extremely fun and fast-paced so you’ll fly through them. Plus, cute guys!!! Shadow Kiss is where the real action, heartache and swooning begin and I hope you enjoy them a bunch! I hope you enjoy The Trusth About Alice and the rest of these. TGFTW has a creppy cover, lol. I hate birds *shudders* Happy reading, Jenni!

That’s a great price for a boxed set!
I’m not sure if you’re going to like it, but stick with the series. It gets really good around book 3 if I’m not mistaken and the MC can be a bit of a bitch in the beginning but she definitely grows throughout the series. 🙂
The Girl From the Well has a gorgeous cover. I haven’t heard of it before today, so I’m going to check it out.
    Enjoy, Jenni!

Awesome haul chick! I had started reading the VA series, but I never did get through the first book. It was a bit slow for me, but I have heard it gets better so I might give it another go. I can’t wait to read The Truth About Alice. Fever sounds awesome too. The Girl From the Well has a super great cover. Enjoy and I hope that your mouth feels better soon.

Boxed sets are awesome! I still haven’t read the VA series but I guess I should this year, with all the hype about the movie!
I also got Sunrise for review from NetGalley, so now I need to finally read the previous two books that I had been putting off in my TBR list!

    Happy reading!

These all look really good! The Truth About Alice sounds particularly interesting, plus I really like the cover. Hope you enjoy your new books!

I’ve never heard of The Truth About Alice or The Fever before, but the covers certainly have me intrigued. I really need to get back to the Vampire Academy series too, I think I’ve only read up to like book one. I hope you enjoy all your reads Jenni!

Nice haul Jenni. Vampire Academy is awesome. You definitely need to start that series ASAP. It’s one of my favorite YA series ever. The rest of your books are awesome. Come visit me as well.

Ugh so jealous of The Truth About Alice! I’m so passionate about slut-shaming and how wrong it is so the fact that there’s a whole book dedicated to dealing with that topic. I first heard about The Fever when I remembered Blythe tweeting “The cover looks like someone tripped over a table and is the middle of falling” (or something like that). But it definitely looks really good so I hope you enjoy all your new reads, Jenni! <33

The VAMPIRE ACADEMY box-set looks really pretty and everything I pass by it I want to just sneakily take it with me even though I already have all the books. 😮

The slightest creepy thing scares me so I probably wouldn’t do well reading THE GIRL FROM THE WELL or THE FEVER but I hope you enjoy them!

  12. Kristilyn (Reading in Winter)

I can’t believe your mouth still is wonky! I don’t remember mine lasting that long after root canals … but at least it shouldn’t bug you anymore! I love the cover for The Fever! Hope you enjoy the Vampire Academy books! The books are way better than what they’re making the movie out to look like … too teeny bopper for me, but the books are great!

  13. Kathy @ I Write, I Read, I Review

Some great stuff there. 😀 I haven’t read all of the Vampire Academy books but the ones I have read were great. My brother was looking for a birthday present for me, so maybe I’ll nudge him in that direction if this is at our local Costco. That’s a terrific price to own the whole thing. Happy reading!

Honestly, I don’t like the new covers for the VA set. I feel like the story is being marketed as a mean girls meets buffy style amd that is not at all what I thought it would be like. Still hesitant on whether or not I will go se the movie.

  15. Bekka

*dances* I’m super excited you snagged The Truth About Alice. It doesn’t come out for a while but I can’t wait to see what you think. I certainly hope I didn’t steer you wrong!

I also have a copy of The Fever. I freely admit that I requested this mostly because of the cover (but also because Nova Ren Suma had been tweeting about it and Nova Ren Suma is the best.)

  16. Michelle @ In Libris Veritas

I have Sunrise too and I’m totally nervous about what’s going to happen. I have hopes it will be mostly pleasant because the poor main characters have been through so much. I’m really curious about The Girl from the Well. I hope you enjoy your new reads!
