A groundbreaking story about a teenage girl who discovers she was born intersex . . . and what happens when her secret is revealed to the entire school. Incredibly compelling and sensitively told, None of the Above is a thought-provoking novel that explores what it means to be a boy, a girl, or something in between.

What if everything you knew about yourself changed in an instant?

When Kristin Lattimer is voted homecoming queen, it seems like another piece of her ideal life has fallen into place. She’s a champion hurdler with a full scholarship to college and she’s madly in love with her boyfriend. In fact, she’s decided that she’s ready to take things to the next level with him.

But Kristin’s first time isn’t the perfect moment she’s planned–something is very wrong. A visit to the doctor reveals the truth: Kristin is intersex, which means that though she outwardly looks like a girl, she has male chromosomes, not to mention boy “parts.”

Dealing with her body is difficult enough, but when her diagnosis is leaked to the whole school, Kristin’s entire identity is thrown into question. As her world unravels, can she come to terms with her new self?

Only Ever Yours is an extremely poignant and important book, I posted my review for it yesterday and I feel like it needs more exposure!

I have Miss Mayhem and Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda coming in the mail, hopefully arriving on release day *crosses fingers* I already read Empire of Night and loved it and I have None of the Above, The Queen of Bright & Shiny Things and The Detective’s Assistant in my wish list!

  2. Krystianna

So many great releases this week! I really want to pick up a copy of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda a swell as None of the Above. Thanks for sharing, I had no idea the release dates were this close!!

There are so many amazing books in your collection. Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda is actually winking at me! I’m reading Only Ever Yours now, and it’s good, if only a little too much like Brave New World. The Tower of Bones and Lies I Told are also very tempting. Great post!

  4. Hannah

I’ve read None of the Above – such a great, important book, and I hope that as many people as possible read it.

Excited for Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, and seen some good things about Ken Liu’s new offering.

  5. Kayla @ The Thousand Lives

Nothing for me this week (waiting for the week of the 21st for my haul this month!), but I’ve read None of the Above and it was FABULOUS. I’m thinking about Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, but I’m going to wait on that one for a while.
