Book Girls Don’t Cry is a weekly feature where we each discuss/vent/advise on the chosen weekly bookish topic. Don’t miss Jenni on Mondays, and Amy on Saturdays:
Books I’m Missing Out On (Apparently)!
This week we decided to do a top ten style discussion post on the books we should have read but still haven’t because; top lists are fun, and you all get to chide us for being late in many ball fields, or something. So these are my top 10 books (ok I cheated and there’s 8- whatevs!) I should have read by now. PS – You can click on the cover for their Goodreads’ page!

–The Iron King by Julie Kagawa: I actually have not read ANY book by Julie Kagawa, and what’s funny is I own this whole series and book 1 and 2 of her Immortal Rules series. Woops! I have been putting this one off actually for the simple fact that it’s about faeries and I have had the worst luck with faeries books. Although I haven’t read one in a year or so, so it may be time. I’ll likely give the audiobooks a try.
–Matched by Ally Condie: The reviews of this series are all over the place so it’s making me both curious and afraid to pick this one up. But it sounds so good! EEP.
–The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis: Yep I’m uber late in the game with this one but I’m kind of scared that all the hype and talk about it has made me expect too much. I also never watched the movies. There are movies, right? >.<
–My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent: Another author that I have not tried but have been interested in every one of her releases. I love the sounds of this series so much and I know I would love it, but it’s become such a long series now that it’s feels a tad overwhelming to start it, so I think these will be audiobooks too. In fact – and I swear! – I have this audio on hold at my library!

–Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler: I think this is the oldest unread book I have on my shelf. By oldest I mean I’ve had it the longest. I think I bought it like over a year before I even started blogging. Oops! (I wonder how much dust is on it.)
–The Giver by Lois Lowry: This is a good book or something, right? Dunno, that old man is kind of intimidating. And he looks uninpressed.
–Bloodlines by Richelle Mead: GAH. I’m a big fan of the Vampire Academy series but the early reviews of this book were pretty bad and I didn’t want to read a bad book about Adrian (<3), they seem to have gotten better though so it’s getting up there in my TBR list. On the covers of that whole series: yuck!
–The Maze Runner by James Dashner: Didn’t this book invent dystopians or something? >.< This is another one that I’m afraid my crazy high expectations I have for it will work against it. It sounds amazing though so I will try it someday!
—Also I’m kind of ashamed that I still have not read ANY Stephen King book – me, the horror fan. *slaps self* But like, dude, his books all have about 192378123871 pages! Scary, much?
Are there any books on here you haven’t read either? (Solidarity and all!)
What are some books that would make your list of books you should have read by now?
You know you love me!
XOXO, Book Girl
