Welcome Amy & Faye to Xpresso Reads!

Posted by 30 Comments

WelcomeAmy

Some of you might know this lovely lady already, but I want you all to welcome Xpresso Reads’ brand new reviewer, Amy! She’s had her own blog for a while now at Book Loving Me and she’s been a good friend of mine since I started blogging, so I’m excited that we’re joining forces! I’m hoping that you’ll all get to know how awesome she is, and look forward to her reviews popping up on the blog any day now! Amy wanted to say a little something, too, so here she is!

Amy: Hello loves!! The past few months I have been quite suckish at keeping up with my own blog due to changes in my offline life, but I still love reading and blogging and when I saw that Giselle was looking for a new partner in crime, I was totally up for it. Some of you may know me from my blog as mentioned above, and I may be new to a lot of you. I am so excited to be teamed up with Giselle and to get to know all of you better. If there is anything you want to know about me, just ask. I will continue my blog for a short period of time with some older reviews that need to post as I transition to Xpresso Reads, but you will be seeing me here from now on. I couldn’t be more excited about this since I have loved Giselle and her blog since the beginning. Thanks for the nice, warm, fuzzy welcome Giselle!!!

EDIT TO ADD: In even more recent and double exciting developments, give a warm welcome to Faye from The Social Potato who will also be reviewing here at Xpresso Reads! I know, right? *Fist pump* I’ve come to know Faye from being a big fan of her own blog, so when she showed legit interest (I thought she was joking >.<) in also reviewing on Xpresso I adopted her!! She wanted to say Hi, too!

Faye: Hi, readers and bloggers alike! You may know me as that raging, swearing girl from Goodreads, but I swear I’m an amiable, friendly person who simply loves reading and discussing books! I value honesty above all else when it comes to criticism and feedback, so expect nothing less from me. I’ve known Giselle way before I started blogging, although it may have been admiration at first since I watched from the sidelines, and so, like Amy, I’m totally psyched to be working and reviewing with her now. You can still catch me on the Potato site but you bet you’ll be seeing my name frequently here, too! Thanks again, Giselle! *tackle hugs you and Amy*

You read that right! Xpresso Reads is looking for an associate reviewer! Basically, I’m looking for someone who would like to read/review ARCs on Xpresso Reads – 1-2 reviews a week preferably. You would get access to Xpresso Reads’ stats to add to your profile for requesting ARCs. You would also get access to Xpresso Reads’ Netgalley where you can read/review books that are already available if you wish, and request your own from here on out. You would get added as a contact in the Review Request tab, and an “about me” can be added on the sidebar with links to your social media. Xpresso Reads is geared towards YA readers, but posting an occasional NA or Adult review would be fine. Please fill out the form below to…

I was tagged by Lisa Loves Literature to participate in this fun book blog tag – Book Life Tag. If I tag you, I will let you know (likely through Twitter). Don’t forget to link back to me so I can see your answers! Even if you weren’t tagged, feel free to participate, too, it’s a super fun idea (at least I think so ;)).

Book Life Tag!

Who would be your father?

You mean fatherS! Because I’d pick Adam and Seth from My Life After Now. When I think about best dads in YA, this novel comes first to mind. The MC lived in a 2 dad household and they were just so supportive and wonderful.

Who would be your mother?

Sooo…..

Halloween in the Book Blogosphere!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays (comes with being a horror story lover), and it’s definitely one holiday that has a lot of themed events in general – that includes around the book blogging world. So I thought I would take the opportunity to round-up awesome events that are coming up for this great holiday so that everyone can see all the happenings around the blogosphere. And I encourage you to join-in with a couple of them, too! Nothing is more fun than being in the spirit of all things creepy! 🙂

Readers Against Recommendations!

I am not a fan of recommending books to others – strangers especially! I know, it should come with being an avid reader, and especially a blogger, but I hate it. Don’t get me wrong. I love giving my opinion on books I have read. I love telling everyone to read this book I just read and loved. I even love back and forth “hey you should read this” chats with other bloggers – which happen on Twitter regularly. But that’s not what I mean. I mean in the cases where I’m asked to select books for others to…

Fall In Books!

The Cure for Dreaming by Cat Winters: I love love loooooved In the Shadow of Blackbirds from Cat which I read a few months ago, and I just know this will be another epic read! Plus, that cover = awesome!  Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future by A.S. King: While I have only read 2 A.S. King books, they were both great, so I have no doubt she’s written another must-read, here! I also met A.S. at BEA and she’s just a sweetheart!  A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray: This will be my first Claudia Gray book! I’ve heard…

3 Year Blogoversary!

Say what? Oh man! Has it been 3 years already? I feel like it was only a few months ago that I was brand new to this community, trying to figure out my way around blogging and finding out there was a whole community of book loving people out there. And these posts are really hard for me, because I feel like I can’t put into words what a wonderful experience blogging has been to me. It’s been an exciting and incredibly fun 3 years, and I plan to stick around for another lil while. 😉

A quick look-back!

First design (oh dear lord!): I’m not really sure why I chose pink. I don’t mind pink, but if you knew me you wouldn’t say I’m…

ALL of the Following Options!

When you stumble on a new blog you enjoy, how do you follow? Do you simply go to their social media links and follow there? Do you pick one or follow via all available options? I’ve noticed since the fall of Google Reader, blogs are really scattered when it comes to how you should/can follow them. Some use Networked Blogs, some use Linky Followers – which I tried and don’t really understand how to get updates from blogs I followed (though it’s been a while since) – and some still have GFC but, same with Linky, I…
