Waiting on Wednesday (19)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

 Between the Lines

                                    Jodi Picoult &
Samantha Van Leer
                                    Release date: June 26th, 2012
by Simon Pulse

Delilah is a bit of a loner who prefers spending her time in the school library with her head in a book—one book in particular. Between the Lines may be a fairy tale, but it feels real. Prince Oliver is brave, adventurous, and loving. He really speaks to Delilah.

And then one day Oliver actually speaks to her. Turns out, Oliver is more than a one-dimensional storybook prince. He’s a restless teen who feels trapped by his literary existence and hates that his entire life is predetermined. He’s sure there’s more for him out there in the real world, and Delilah might just be his key to freedom.

Delilah and Oliver work together to attempt to get Oliver out of his book, a challenging task that forces them to examine their perceptions of fate, the world, and their places in it. And as their attraction to each other grows along the way, a romance blossoms that is anything but a fairy tale.

Jodi’s first YA novel!! I’m a big fan of Jodi Picoult’s books so I did not hesitate to add this to my wishlist as soon as I saw the cover reveal last week. I have read 7 of her books and except for one, I have loved them all. If I was to recommend one, it would be Nineteen Minutes. That book is the first of hers I’ve read and it’s by far her best. It’s an incredible story about a school shooting. Picoult is known for her dramatic endings, though, so I’m curious to see if she follows suit with this first YA novel of hers, and how different it will be since it’s also written with her daughter.

What are you waiting on this week?

I haven’t read a Picoult book yet but I do own some. This sounds really interesting and might just end up being the first one I read of hers. Great choice!

I also love Jodi Picoult books! Her endings always have some kind of twist in them, and like you I am curious to see if that comes into play with her YA novel.

The synopsis of this sounds amazing, so I am excited to pick it up!

Between the Lines looks so interesting – I have never read anything by Jodi Picoult, but I think I definitely need to remedy that when this one comes out.
