Waiting on Wednesday (53)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

Doll Bones

Holly Black
Release date: May, 2013
by Margaret K. McElderry Books

Zach, Poppy and Alice have been friends for ever. They love playing with their action figure toys, imagining a magical world of adventure and heroism. But disaster strikes when, without warning, Zach’s father throws out all his toys, declaring he’s too old for them. Zach is furious, confused and embarrassed, deciding that the only way to cope is to stop playing . . . and stop being friends with Poppy and Alice. But one night the girls pay Zach a visit, and tell him about a series of mysterious occurrences. Poppy swears that she is now being haunted by a china doll – who claims that it is made from the ground-up bones of a murdered girl. They must return the doll to where the girl lived, and bury it. Otherwise the three children will be cursed for eternity…

Yeah, it’s an MG, but dude! Holly Black!? Hells yeah!!

I don’t read much MG, but this one just sounds so damn good. I think dolls are creepy as hell and the fact that this doll was made out of bones form a murdered girl is just a step further. I love a good book that is creepy and spooky all at once. Count me in for this one too! Great pick 🙂 *adds book to TBR shelf*

I haven’t read Holly Black’s books yet, but the way you swoon about her makes me think I am missing something. I’m not sure I would read this but, I definietly want to start her YA books.

My number one fear EVER is dolls. Those ones that you can lay down and their eyes open and close AH! Sloane has never been allowed to have one, she can only have mommy approved dolls. Oh! And dummies, how freaking scary are those things. Anyway, that’s what this made me think of.. and now I may have nightmares.

Holly Black?! I HAVE to get this! Not only because it sounds amazing (it does), but I absolutely adored the SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES. Thanks for sharing – it sounds creepy and full of magic (as her books always do) already! 🙂
