Waiting on Wednesday (76)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:
Parasite
Mira Grant
Series: Parasitism #1
Genre: Adult Sci-Fi Thriller
Publication date: November 5th 2013
by Orbit

A decade in the future, humanity thrives in the absence of sickness and disease.

We owe our good health to a humble parasite – a genetically engineered tapeworm developed by the pioneering SymboGen Corporation. When implanted, the tapeworm protects us from illness, boosts our immune system – even secretes designer drugs. It’s been successful beyond the scientists’ wildest dreams. Now, years on, almost every human being has a SymboGen tapeworm living within them.

But these parasites are getting restless. They want their own lives… and will do anything to get them.

I am a HUGE fan of Mira Grant’s Newsflesh series. One of the best and most realistic and well researched zombie series out there hands down. She’s a fantastic writer and even if I would be interested by this synopsis alone, seeing her name on it just turned this upcoming release a million times more exciting!
What are you waiting on, this Wednesday?

This sounds really good, and I love what you have to say about Grant. I will have to check out her other series. I love this cover!!!

I still want to read Mira Grant’s Newsflesh series. This one sounds so amazing and freaky! I love sci-fi. To have some crazy tapeworm inside you that wants to take control! It’s like The Host and Body Snatchers or something all in one! LOL
    My WOW

Sorry, i got my link wrong in the previous comment 🙂
OMG this book sounds super creepy. Every once in a while I get in the mood for something like this, so this will be on my TBR list. And I haven’t read the Newsflash series but they do sound interesting. Thanks for sharing 🙂
    My WOW post! 🙂

Ah, I haven’t read or heard of her zombie series before. At least, nothing comes to mind at her name. And I really don’t like the idea of parasites taking over the world underneath our noses… It’s just too possible and horrible :$

I just heard about this yesterday, and I’m anxious to read it. I didn’t care for… whatever the first Newsflesh book was… but I’m certainly willing to give her another try. Parasite sounds great.

Okay, that synopsis is totally disturbing and intriguing!! I totally want to read this!! I still need to read the Newsflesh series. My library has them all on audio. I bet they are great to listen to!

hahaha… great minds think alike. We’re twinsies today. 😀
I’m dying for this one, it sounds so crazy fantastic! And I’m actually kind of surprised that it’s not related to zombies. I thought she was keeping her pseudonym solely for zombie books. But oh well, can’t wait! Great pick! 😉
    My WoW Pick!

How did I not about a new Mira Grant book??! I adore the Newsflesh series with a passion. LOVE this cover, it’s so unique and striking. Great pick!

  9. Blythe Harris

This one sounds SO. FREAKING. COOL. I can’t wait to read it! Though it’ll be my first Mira Grant novel. *ducks from flying object coming towards my head*

This one sounds SUPER freaky! Parasites are horrifying as it is but these ones sound nasty! Your comment about how the author researched her past work well makes me cringe just thinking about what she could do in this one o.O I like the cover too, it’s simple but mixed with the colour choices it gives the whole thing an ominous/eerie feel.
