#MuslimShelfSpace Recommendation List

This recommendation list is partially inspired by recent events and also something I’ve wanted to do for a while. It is definitely the bare-minimum (probably not even that, tbh) and we all need to be supporting our Muslim-identifying authors, friends and foe. So here is a list of some wonderful books/authors you should have on your TBRs and should be supporting!! It is by no means a thorough list and a much much MUCH better resource would be the Hijabi Librarians blog.

5 Bookstores On My Bucket List

1. Shakespeare and Company (Paris, France)

I think this is one of those bookstores almost all bookworms have heard of and I WANT TO VISIT (and likely by nothing because I am trash.)

2. The Ripped Bodice (Los Angeles, United States)

A bookstore exclusively for romance novels? YES PLEASE. THIS GIRL NEEDS IT.

3. Boekhandel Dominicanen (Maastricht, Netherlands)

The bookstore is apparently located in a 700 year old church so you get old world charm will browsing through all the books your heart could desire.

4. Foyles Bookshop (London, United Kingdom)

ITS SO BIG AND one of the most iconic London bookstores so obviously I am going to want to stop by someday.

5. Livraria Lello e Irmao (Porto, Portugal)

Last but not least, THIS MAJESTIC BOOKSTORE. It is almost two centuries…

Diverse Books Out March 2018

March has been a not-so-great month for me so I delayed doing this post by a week (usually done on first Sunday of new month) but I DIDN’T FORGET. So, welcome to the March 2018 roundup of diverse releases. As previously mentioned, these roundups focus on YA and MG books because that’s what is easiest to keep track of for me. If I miss a book, or include one that shouldn’t be on here, let me know!!!

I am never the person who is on top of the upcoming romance novels list but somehow, this year, there seem to be a large number of books coming out that I am looking forward to and that GIVES ME A REASON TO DO A POST ABOUT THEM. YAY.

1. How To Forget a Duke by Vivienne Lorett

Vivienne Lorret was one of those authors I discovered through an impulse one-click and I’ve been a fan ever sense. She never disappoints and this time, she is coming out with an Emma-esque retelling???

2. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

Not only does the book have an adorable cover, it also has an adorable premise. Stella Lane thinks she is not good at romance so she decides to hire an escort…

11 Hate-To-Love Romances We Deserve

I am self-certified garbage for hate to love romances and any book that promises even a hint of one usually gets a spot high on my enormous TBR. This post compiles some of my favs but is by no means comprehensive because honestly, I’ve read too much to be able to keep track of everything. EVEN THOUGH I TRY.

1. The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You by Lily Anderson

Retelling of Much Ado About Nothing, a classic love/hate romance but maybe even better? The angst is beautiful. Don’t @ me.

2. Act Like It by Lucy Parker

Read it upon a friend’s recommendation who promised to disown me if I hated it and lucky for her, I didn’t. The hero is a total grump.

9 Books I Read For Class That I Didn’t Hate

I think the general assumption is that if you read a book for class, you probably aren’t going to enjoy it all that much and I think that there is some truth to that, especially depending on what kind of class it is but in my 15 years as a student, I think I’ve been lucky to actually enjoy quite a few of the books I had to read for class.

1. American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang

I’ve read this book multiple times for pleasure, but the first time I ever read it was actually for school! I didn’t know how much this book would come to mean to me over the years but I loved it then and I love it now.

When I am daydreaming, I like to get ahead of myself and imagine the kind of bookshelves I’d buy if I have money and didn’t just want to store my books but rather showcase them.

1. The Read Your Bookcase bookshelves

I’ve been eyeing these bookcases for a time now and I am not entirely sure whether or not I think they are aesthetically pleasing, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want it.

Diverse Books Out February 2018

Heyyy, I am still here doing these roundups. I mean, it is only February and I still have like 10 more months to give up but I haven’t yet! These roundups tend to focus on YA and MG books because those are easiest to keep track of but I do try to include romances because I also read those and I want to make the list as thorough as possible.
