Posted by 2 Comments

🎶It’s getting hot in here so take the dust jackets off all your books🎶

It was 90+ degrees here today and I cannot deal with anything in this heat so TODAY, I am bringing you a list of 5 books that look like a good way to cool down in this summer heat.

1. Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

2. See You at Harry’s by Jo Knowles

3. The Summer of Firsts and Lasts by Terra Alan McVoy

4. Rocky Road by Rose Kent

5. Shug by Jenny Han

Do you have any book recommendations for this heat? Please tell me because I will die soon from being overheated and want to get some reading done before that happens.

5 Books to Read if You Love Books About Books (AND INKHEART)

Yesterday, I posted a review for The Book Jumper talking about my disappointment because I am really into books about books and thought I’d do a follow-up today recommending some A+ books about books (most I’ve read and others come highly recommended by friends.)

1. The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

Whenever I make recommendation lists, I don’t have any particular order in which I list the books in but The Invisible Library is #1 on this list because it was one of my fav books of 2016 and I didn’t have a lot of favs. IT IS ULTIMATE BOOK PORN. Blurb in a sentence: Detective Librarians who venture into alternate universes to find and protect different versions of books or find new ones that only exist in that universe.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, FRIENDS! I hope everyone has a creeptastic day and that this Monday will be better than most! My real life horror story for today is that I had a finished draft for a final essay due today and I started it last night so who knows how that will turn out. But anyway, I am here to do what I do best and recommend some horror books to celebrate this day.

Diverse Picture Books

Posted by on 01/25/2016 • 5 Comments

So, picture books. A lot of you might not read them yourselves but if I might say so, there are some fabulous picture books out there and yes, picture books that are ‘diverse.’ I am currently taking a Queer Lit class at my college and one of my classmates mentioned that she wished picture books weren’t so generic. She mentioned how nice it would be if she could read some pictures books aloud to her kids that weren’t based on heteronormative ideals and I wanted to shout that there ARE some amazing pictures books out there. AND HERE WE ARE. With me recommending some diverse picture books to you guys. ENJOY.
