Exclusively titled for Xpresso Reads, Fresh Batch features the hottest releases of this upcoming week.

Flavor of the week:

Scarlet
Marissa Meyer
Series: Lunar Chronicles #2
Publication date: February 5th 2013
by Feiwel and Friends

Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.

As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Scarlet Book Trailer:

I live in Tacoma, Washington, with my fiancé and our two cats. In addition to my slight obsession with books and writing, I'm big on road-tripping, wine-tasting, and hunting for antiques. I'm represented by Jill Grinberg.

CINDER, my debut novel, is a futuristic re-envisioning of Cinderella in which Cinder is a cyborg mechanic. Release date: 3 Jan 2012.

  1. OMG! I didn't know Scarlet comes out this week! I haven't read Cinder yet, because I was waiting for Scarlet to be published because apparently there's a huge cliffhanger. Yay! I also can't wait to read City of A Thousand Dolls, Etiquette and Espionage, and The Ruining! Oh, this is an exciting release day!

ETA: Am I going to be the first person to comment on an Expresso Reads post? No way! If anyone posts a comment when I am writing this...

  6. I'm reading The Ruining right now!! The only ones I really, really want are Scarlet (which I have pre-ordered) and Unravel Me which I am getting at the Dark Days event on Thursday! Rush sounds really good though, I have heard some pretty good reviews for it. I have to finish reading Midwinter Blood, it is pretty good so far.

  15. There are SO many books coming out this month. I WANT THEM ALL!! xD But I don't have enough money to do so without seriously impacting my "Macbook Pro Fund" :D I got Cinder from the library some time ago and can't wait to start it. Then, there's Prodigy, Perfect Scoundrels AND UNRAVEL ME! I read Shatter Me a few days ago and I loved it. I'm seriously intrigued by Etiquette and Espionage so, add that to the list too :D
