Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week:

Waiting on Wednesday (90)Servants of the Storm by Delilah S. Dawson
Published by Simon Pulse on 2014
Genres: Paranormal, YA
Goodreads

A year ago Hurricane Josephine swept through Savannah, Georgia, leaving behind nothing but death and destruction — and taking the life of Dovey's best friend, Carly. Since that night, Dovey has been in a medicated haze, numb to everything around her.

But recently she's started to believe she's seeing things that can't be real ... including Carly at their favorite cafe. Determined to learn the truth, Dovey stops taking her pills. And the world that opens up to her is unlike anything she could have imagined.

As Dovey slips deeper into the shadowy corners of Savannah — where the dark and horrifying secrets lurk — she learns that the storm that destroyed her city and stole her friend was much more than a force of nature. And now the sinister beings truly responsible are out to finish what they started.

Dovey's running out of time and torn between two paths. Will she trust her childhood friend Baker, who can't see the threatening darkness but promises to never give up on Dovey and Carly? Or will she plot with the sexy stranger, Isaac, who offers all the answers — for a price? Soon Dovey realizes that the danger closing in has little to do with Carly ... and everything to do with Dovey herself.

Whoa how creepy is this cover? Let’s hope it lives up to it! The blurb sounds promising, anyways! 😀

Giselle, you always find such creepy books to introduce to us!! And this one sounds like another great one! And I agree, the cover though.. O__O SHE’S DOING THE MICHAEL JACKSON. 😉 Great pick, Giselle!

  2. Bri @ The Book Pixie

Wow. I had not heard of this one, but it sounds amazing! Plus I’m a Georgia native so the setting definitely grabs hold of my interest. And yeah, creepy cover. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  3. Lanaia

I LOVE the cover, it’s so simple but very creepy. The blurb sounds great! I didn’t know Delilah S. Dawson has a new book coming out, I have her Wicked as They Come on my to-read shelf. Great pick!

  4. Eileen @ ***Singing and Reading in the Rain***

I agree, that cover is totally creepy! Also the fact that she starts seeing things because of a hurricane is such an intriguing concept. I always love seeing how something triggers another action and why. And whoa Dovey’s on pills? This just makes it even more amazing because I wonder why she was put on them in the first place 🙂

    Fantastic pick, Giselle!

  5. Kelly

Whoa, super creepy! But it does sound very promising! I haven’t heard of this one before but I’m definitely adding it to my TBR list. Great pick (as always!)

Whoa, this book sounds amazing! I love a good ghost story, and this seems like it’s going to be even better than the typical ghost story! I’ll have to add it to my TBR list.

  7. Christina @ Christina Reads YA

That cover IS GORGEOUS – the colors, the grit/grunge, the pose, the lighting, the font… LOVE. Also, being a geek-nerd hybrid means that when I read the “servants of the storm” title, I immediately was creeped out by the reminder of a computer game I used to play. The Storm was all about creepy things… and the blurb definitely seems to promise that. Though I’m a bit worried about ‘sexy stranger’ Isaac and childhood friend Baker – don’t know if Baker is a guy, but it sounds like a potential love triangle o.O.

  8. Kathy @ I Write, I Read, I Review

That sounds extremely interesting. Delilah S. Dawson wrote Wicked As They Come, which was one of my favorite novels last year. She has an extremely vivid imagination and a very interesting writing style. I’m sure this won’t disappoint. 🙂 (Which reminds me, I *really* need to get the rest of her books… *ponders*)
