My pick this week:
Torn Away by Jennifer Brown
Published by Little Brown BfYR on May 6th 2014
Genres: Contemporary, YA
Goodreads
Born and raised in the Midwest, Jersey Cameron knows all about tornadoes. Or so she thinks. When her town is devastated by a twister, Jersey survives -- but loses her mother, her young sister, and her home. As she struggles to overcome her grief, she's sent to live with her only surviving relatives: first her biological father, then her estranged grandparents.
In an unfamiliar place, Jersey faces a reality she's never considered before -- one in which her mother wasn't perfect, and neither were her grandparents, but they all loved her just the same. Together, they create a new definition of family. And that's something no tornado can touch.
Jennifer Brown is a fantastic contemporary author and every time I see a new book of hers coming out I know I just have to have it! I saw this one just recently and just the blurb alone breaks my heart so I think I will need to mentally prepare for it, but I think it will be well worth it!
What are you waiting on?

Wow this sounds heartbreaking. I can’t imagine loosing my family in such a traumatic way. At least it sounds like it ends in a happily ever after. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with the feeling of this being a gripping book full of hope and sadness. Fantastic pick Giselle!

Sounds like a great contemporary! I haven’t read anything of Jennifer Brown’s but sounds like I should.
Melanie (YA Midnight Reads)
I haven’t read anything by Jennifer Brown but if I happen to like Hate List, I might do what I did with Courtney Summers’ books and go Jennifer Brown crazy on my blog, hehe. Sounds like a plan…
Great choice of WoW! <33

Ill skip this one, it sounds too mushy. I hope you enjoy it though.

I haven’t actually read anything from this author before! I’ve heard great things though and hope I can try something by her eventually – even though this isn’t really my genre. I hope you like this one when you get to read it! Great pick, Giselle. 🙂
Nick @ Nick's Book Blog
I’ve heard fabulous things about Jennifer Brown and I have to say that this one intrigues me more than any of her current book.
I love how family oriented it seems to be.
Thanks for sharing, Giselle!

Ooh! A new Jennifer Brown! I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve read from her and this one sounds just a bit like I’d have all the feels while reading it.
Kelly
I’ve never read a book dealing with the devastation of tornadoes before. This definitely sounds like something I could get into though.
Kristin@Blood,Sweat and Books
Even though I don’t really enjoy contemporaries I do think this sounds like a neat premise. Plus I’m sort of a sucker for stories involving natural disasters.
Mandi Kaye
This sounds heartbreaking. 🙁 But of course I want to read it now…

This does sound incredibly heart-wrenching and yet a bit hopeful too. I’ve not read anything by this author yet, but will have to give one of her books a try before this one releases. Great WoW pick!
Annette
I haven’t seen this one before, but anything Jennifer Brown writes is on my list! Thanks!
Megan @ Adrift on Vulcan
To be honest, I’ve never actually read anything by Jennifer Brown, but I just LOVE the sound of her books. Like THOUSAND WORDS, which touched on issues I’ve never seen before in YA, or HATE LIST, which sounded so dark and depressing. No idea why I haven’t picked them up yet. And I also love how her covers seem to match one another’s. Anyway, this kind of reminds me of THE WAITING SKY by Lara Zielin, only the latter sounds a bit more cheerful (though it wasn’t) than this one.
Great pick, Giselle!
Anya
Aw, that one might be too sad for me *gets tissues* But it looks awesome!
I’m still on a sci-fi kick apparently, my WoW is Tandem 😀
Savannah
This sounds awesome. Did you know I once wanted to become a meteorologist and chase tornadoes? I had applied to the university of Oklahoma and everything. But my parents didn’t want me to go too far away. Anyways, I think I will love this book.
Ellen
Nice pick. This sounds good.
ShootingStarsMag
It does sound like one intense book, but i’m curious. I love a good contemporary that touches on tough issues.
Hollie @ Music, Books and Tea
I wasn’t sure I’d be too interested in this one, but then I read the last couple of lines in that synopsis and I am HOOKED. I need to get myself a copy of this one when it’s released!
Pili
Love the cover and it sounds very cool! I think I’ll have to add it to the TBR list!
Nereyda @Mostly YA Book Obsessed
I haven’t read a book by her yet but they all sound really good. Love the cover but I’m getting really sick of seeing that girl on almost every cover…
Amy @ Book Loving Mom
This sounds really great and emotional. I haven’t read any of this authors books, but really need to.

I saw the Arcs for this one on the author’s fb page yesterday and I’m dying to read it! I’ve only read one Jennifer Brown book and it was okay but I loved the idea behind it, and I hopefully this is the book I’m going to love. Great pick!
