Waiting on Wednesday (72)

Posted by

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week:

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown
Holly Black
Genre: YA Paranormal
Release date: September 17th 2013
by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

COLDTOWN WAS DANGEROUS, TANA KNEW. A GLAMOROUS CAGE, A PRISON FOR THE DAMNED AND ANYONE WHO WANTED TO PARTY WITH THEM?

Tana lived in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself

Holly. Black.

Hehe I know how many people adore Holly Black. I need to get back to reading her other books because everyone seems to adore her.
This one sounds great even though the cover could be prettier..

  2. Jennifer Messerschmidt

I haven’t read anything by Holly Black but this sounds amazing! Very curious about these walled Coldtowns. Only thing that sounds disappointing is that it smells of a love triangle what with her stuck with her ex and a new boy.
    My WOW

  3. Ransom Reads

I think I read the short story for this. I’m fairly certain anyway. I think it was good. And it’s the only thing by Holly Black I remember reading (besides one or two other shorts stories). Something tells me I should probably read more…

I haven’t read anything by Holly Black but this sounds so creepy. And that cover is amazing!
    Thanks for sharing, Giselle! 🙂

Lol!! I almost picked this one too!! As soon as I saw the cover I got even more excited for it!! I decided on The Waking Dark instead, that one looks epic too!!

  6. Martina Koleva

Never heard of the book before, adding it on my to-read list now! It sounds amazing! I’m intrigued and I’d love to read it when it comes out. Great pick and thanks for sharing!
Come check out my WOW post.

I was looking at this on GR yesterday and am still not quite sure if it’s my kind of read, but considering it’s HOLLY-FREAKING-BLACK, I’ll likely give it a chance anyway 🙂

    Great pick, muffin! <3

  8. Kristin @ My ParaHangover

I suppose I should get around to reading Holly Black, huh? I was going to start with Curse Workers. Maybe I’ll start here; this one sounds really cool (sorry, pun sort of intended). Awesome find!! I added to my ever bulging list 🙂
