All of the author love fails!

JohnGreenXR Dessen Rowling ReadXR RothXR

  • John Green: I bought The Fault in Our Stars last year with full intent of jumping right into it but then life changed and the story began to hit too close to home so I just haven’t gotten around to picking it up yet. I know this is unacceptable and I could pick up one of his other novels but I just haven’t.
  • Sarah Dessen: I have 6 of this woman’s novels on my shelf and I have not even picked one of them up. FAIL.
  • J.K. Rowling: Ok, please don’t throw stuff at me *hides*  Harry Potter has just never interested me, neither have her recent adult novels.
  • Richelle Mead: In my defence I did buy the box set of the VA series a few weeks ago and I do intend to get to them when I have time for some ME reading.
  • Veronica Roth: Once again, I have all of her books, just haven’t read them.  I do want to read Divergent before the movie comes out, but that probably won’t happen.

KingXR DashnerXR BethXR KagawaXR VincentXR

My list isn’t as tragic as Jenni’s (I mean c’mon, girl!), but Stephen King alone is a pretty big fail on my horror-loving part! >.<

  • Stephen King: I know, I know! Major fail for me here who claims is a huge horror fan, huh? I have watched a large number of his movies, but his books have always intimidated me seeing as they all have a million pages. But one day I will get out of this funk >.<
  • James Dashner: I have been wanting to read The Maze Runner for like a thousand years and I just… haven’t! And there’s a movie out now right? Or out soon? Eep!
  • Beth Ravis: I think this is the first author I told myself I would read ASAP when I started my blog. Everyone and their dog was recommending it to me and it does sound so good and the reviews are amazing! Maybe I will audiobook this bugger soon! I love to use audiobooks for my long-time TBR residents!
  • Julie Kagawa: It’s funny that she’s in this list because I’m pretty sure I own all of her books! I have the first 3 Iron Fey books at home, and I own eBooks of both Immortal Rules book, and even Grim from Netgalley. I also met her at BEA, she’s so sweet and awesome and charismatic!
  • Rachel Vincent: I also own a lot of Vincent’s books. At least the first 3 Soul Screamers and Amy (Book Loving Mom) just got me her Blood Bound trilogy last Christmas. I have heard amazing things about all of her series!

Does our lists make you ashamed of us? >.<
What authors would be on yours?

Review: Half Bad by Sally Green

Review: Half Bad by Sally Green

Half Blood started as a 5-star read for me. This lasted ’til about three quarters which is when I realized we really hadn’t gotten anywhere in the story. Boredom quickly followed, until I was unfortunately underwhelmed by the anticlimactic ending. Nevertheless, it’s an incredibly well written book that has a lot to offer if you have a bit of patience, although it’s unique in a way that may not adhere to all tastes.

When we meet our protagonist, Nathan, he’s naught but a young lad. Young and unfortunate to have been born the son of a notorious Black Witch; a fact that makes him a leper, someone to be hunted down and caged. We learn that, even though he’s highly intelligent in many ways, he’s not exactly book smart….

Survivor meets Lost (pre epic fail) in this exciting survivalist story set on a bizarre island filled with monstrous beasts and only one way out, and if you miss your chance to leave, you die. Imagine walking to the store when this heat wave comes, and suddenly you find yourself naked and having to rough it out in this unnatural wild with countless death traps and no supplies or food other than what you can find on the island. Luckily, Charley found others in the same predicament. I found it rather ingenious, the way these kids built a kind of society where everyone does what they can, pulling their own weight to survive this alternate dimension of sorts they were all unfortunate to land into. As a result, the book…

Something Real by Heather Demitrios: I know this one might be out already but I haven’t gotten the chance to get it in my grubby hands yet.  The love I have been seeing for this book on my Goodreads is immense! I have been a long time (closet) reality show fan so I think this one would really interest me! Review: Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens

Review: Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens

Rape books are numerous, at least I’ve read my fair share. They come in all shapes and sizes, giving us tragic stories of broken lives and emotionally crippled victims. Faking Normal may be one of the bunch, but it’s one that stands out in its importance in showing one of the worst faces of rape: the one that goes wrongfully blamed, the one with circumstances that make the victim think it’s excusable. He was hurt, he said. Lonely, he said. Since she didn’t straight up say no, does it make it okay? Did Alexi “let it happen”, making it her fault? Even though she obviously was not saying yes? For months, now, Alexi has been punishing herself, justifying the abuse that has been haunting her ever since. Haunting her to…

An edgy, realistic, and utterly captivating novel from an exciting new voice in teen fiction.

Alexi Littrell hasn’t told anyone what happened to her over the summer. Ashamed and embarrassed, she hides in her closet and compulsively scratches the back of her neck, trying to make the outside hurt more than the inside does.

When Bodee Lennox, the quiet and awkward boy next door, comes to live with the Littrells, Alexi discovers an unlikely friend in “the Kool-Aid Kid,” who has secrets of his own. As they lean on…
