Xpresso Weekly: Stacking the Shelves (28)

Posted by

Xpresso Weekly is my edition of Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews featuring the books I got this week, and I also mention blog news/happenings of the past week.
This week at Xpresso Reads

Hey you muffin cups! So for those who do daylight savings, we gain an hour tonight! YEAH! More time to sleep! πŸ˜€ Too bad that my kid doesn’t understand that yet! *sobs* So phew this was a busy week for me. I got stuck with a load of chocolate from Halloween so that’s how I stay awake *twitch* As far as the blog, I had the Two and Twenty Dark Tales blog tour stop by, I interviewed Leigh Fallon and you can enter to win a copy of Carrier of the Mark. Another tour stopped by this week: Renegade by JA Souders which I Loved! (It’s even November’s Brew!–Sidebar), and you can win a copy of that as well! Check it out here!

I so can’t wait to see what you think of Hysteria and Chantress, Giselle! Hysteria sounds so creepy and like the perfect psychological thriller, and Chantress has a gorgeous cover (I actually don’t think I even read the synopsis…) so I want it. And I don’t know what the HELL she’s holding, but it makes for a gorgeous element to a gorgeous cover. But seriously, is it a stone? A heart? A perfume bottle? It is actually annoying me. Inquiring minds want to know, author!

And ooh! A horror novel blurbed by Stephen King on the cover *can’t* be a letdown, because… well… it’s Stephen King! Whatever Stephen King says goes. I practically worship him.

    Awesome haul this week, Giselle!

  2. Jen (A Reading Daydreamer)

GOD that Chantress cover is so gorgeous I can’t even. GAH. Awesome books this week! Hysteria looks pretty mind-blowing.. and congratulations on being quoted on the freaking COVER. Yaay! Happy reading Giselle πŸ™‚

Awesome haul chick!! Hysteria sounds so awesome!! Did they change the cover though or is that just for the ARC? I liked the old one. Anyways. All the books sound awesome! I really need to get The Weeping. Especially since you are quoted on the cover. πŸ™‚

  9. Carina

Amazing haul, ‘Till The World Ends sounds like a great read and I cant wait for it to be published. I also have Hysteria too.

Love the new blog designs you have done, they are AMAZING!!!!

    Check out my haul

Congrats on the cover quote. We don’t have daylight savings here in Arizona but it is good to know that my family and friends on the East Coast are only two hours away by phone. That and all of our TV shows record an hour later now I think because they still lump us in with California for broadcasting.

  13. Kara_Malinczak

Just watched your vlog. I DNFed Fracture, so don’t feel bad about giving it three stars. I just didn’t like it and I was bored to tears. Writing was okay though.

That’s so cool you got a blurb quote in a book! The most I have gotten so far is quotes on author websites so hopefully someday that will happen to me. πŸ™‚

    Nice haul, lady!

  14. Kristilyn (Reading In Winter)

Awesome books! What cover is that for Hysteria? I loved the cover that’s been up on Goodreads with the blank picture frame — it’s haunting!

Enjoy Breed! I liked it, but it wasn’t as scary as I would have liked.

    Congrats on the cover blurb!!

Enjoy your reads this week, Giselle!

  15. Rachel

The Chantress is a gorgeous cover, Giselle! I love pretty covers and get myself into trouble by buying them without knowing much about the story. Sometimes the insides don’t match the outside. Great haul Giselle, enjoy your reads. πŸ™‚

  16. Jenni @ Alluring Reads

Ooooh Til The World Ends and Hysteria both look so freaking good, but I have never seen this cover for Hysteria before! Did they change it? I like the old one better if they did. Can’t wait to see what you think of all of these and those designs rock, but you already know I think that! πŸ˜›

  17. Aylee

What a nice message that author left for you! And hurray for having a ton of left over candy from Halloween! Hope you enjoy all the books you got this week!

  18. russell1200

I don’t think I have ever been called a muffin cup before, not even in a holistic group sort of way.

After that is was hard to concentrate on the rest of your -no dobut highly illuminating -posting.

  19. Jenn@OwlReadIt

Ahh, that’s so awesome! You’re quoted on a cover!! <3

Also, the cover for Hysteria always makes me think of Celine (sp?) from Underworld..lol

And ‘Til the World Ends!!! Awesome haul!

    Have a wonderful week!

  20. Micheline D

Oh wow! That is so cool to see you quoted right on top there! Congrats πŸ˜€ Nice haul this week as well, can’t wait to see how you’ll like Chantress!

Thanks for the weekly recap as well! My StS this week.

I missed your face, Giselle! I don’t care what kind of tiresome week you’ve had! That’s the price you pay for being such a sensational blogger! I command you to make more videos!

*dies* You. Got. Chantress. Why, I just might loathe you if I didn’t love you. And Hysteria, unfortunately, isn’t available to us mere mortals residing in the US unfortunately, and that makes me all kinds of mad because it looks GOOD. And ohhh *thrusts arm over forehead in dismay* you’ve got Til the World Ends too?!? Why am I still breathing? Please put up reviews soon. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY’RE LIKE.

And congrats on being quoted! On the cover no less! EXCITING, BRO.

  22. Christina

NOOOOO! I had a long comment and it got deleted. WAHHHHH.

    Okay, short version:

I am jealous, because I loved Fracture. I do not like the Chantress cover. We are so far opposites.

I read Pirate Cinema last week, and it was good, though a bit ranty about politics.

  23. Bonnie R

That’s so awesome being quoted on the cover!!
Wow, you got some super awesome ones this week! Breed sounds super creepy and oooh ‘Til The World Ends? Definitely going to have to pick this one up.
And I just requested Renegade because of your review so fingers crossed! πŸ™‚
    My Showcase Sunday.

  24. Megan K.

Awesome haul as usual, Giselle! You’re so lucky to get HYSTERIA and CHANTRESS – those are two books I really want to read. <3 And it's so cool that you're quoted on the cover of THE WEEPING!

Enjoy all your lovely new books, chicka!
