Cami Broussard has her future all figured out. She'll finish her senior year of high school, then go to work full-time as an apprentice chef in her father's French restaurant, alongside her boyfriend, Luke. But then twenty-year-old ex-Marine Julian Wyatt comes to live with Cami's family while recovering from serious injuries. And suddenly Cami finds herself questioning everything she thought she wanted.

Julian's all attitude, challenges and intense green-brown eyes. But beneath that abrasive exterior is a man who just might be as lost as Cami's starting to feel. And Cami can't stop thinking about him. Talking to him. Wanting to kiss him. He's got her seriously stirred up. Her senior year has just gotten a lot more complicatedโ€ฆ

Character Spotlight: Julian Wyatt

CHARACTER: Julian Wyatt
AGE: 20
HEIGHT: 6โ€™ 0โ€
HAIR: Brown
EYES: Hazel

PARENTS: Father: U.S. Marine Sam Wyatt, died in a Jeep accident in Somalia when Julian was four.

Mother: Angela Wyatt, a researcher at a think tank in Washington, died from breast cancer when Julian was nine.

CHILDHOOD: Raised by his aunt Estella after his motherโ€™s death. Considers her son, his cousin Brandon, to be like an older brother. Got in a fair amount of trouble after his mom died, but then turned to sports as an outlet and his situation improved. Top grades in high school and top scores on SAT, but he decided to be a U.S. Marine like his father and grandfather.

MILITARY BACKGROUND: Enlisted as a U.S. Marine and was sent to Afghanistan, where he was caught in an IED explosion that killed three men in his unit and caused him lose his right leg below the knee. Returns to the U.S. to recover with his aunt, her new husband, and her annoyingly-pretty step-daughter in their house in Vermont.

HOBBIES: All sports particularly basketball, watching old movies, reading newspapers, political magazines and books by Michael Crichton and Tom Clancy, exercising in the gym.

FAVORITE FOODS: Steak, apple pie, anything made by Cami Broussard, especially the soups she brings him after work. Then later, for secret reasons, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I did start it but I didn’t get very far. I wasn’t in the mood for another contemp at the time though so I put it aside but I do want to give it another go! ๐Ÿ™‚

My comment was going to be the exact same as Nick’s. DID YOU READ THIS, GISELLE? DID YOU? I adored this book, though I finally ended up giving it 3.5 stars due to some circumstances, but I still adored it nevertheless and I wish I could have this one as a paperback on my shelf. I loved Julian and that peanut butter and jelly sandwich made me smile so hard:) Thanks for sharing, sweets!

Haha after all this loving I’m super curious! I did start it and it wasn’t grabbing me but I think it was my mood more than anything. I will give it another go, though! I do wish they had used another couple for the cover. These guys are EVERYWHERE!!

      • Siiri

OMG YES. I didn’t have hope when I saw that cover, but Nick’s review made me eager to give it a try. Then came the tour and so it went. We both love cooking and watching cooking shows so it was a perfect fit for us. Btw, my rating reflects the writing thanks to some issues I had, but the story and the characters weren’t as clichรฉ as I though they’d be. They were quite original and very humble and entertaining to read about.

It seems both my comments on your blog got eaten by what I was commenting with last week, but I’m so glad that the people in the comments above loved this book. I am such a huge fan of contemporary books, so I may have to read this one. The character spotlight makes Julian sound so attractive and intriguing, too! <33 Thanks for sharing, Giselle ๐Ÿ™‚
