It’s not often that I get super excited and fan girl over a book, but this is one of them. I read a very early copy of this since I was lucky enough to be a beta reader. I feel like I need to disclose that. Having said that, this is a book that I need to own a physical copy of because it was absolutely amazing!! I need to read it again. (As soon as I can make myself carve out time for it, which will be soon.) The terror was so real, the emotions and feelings were pulling me every which way, and I felt so drawn into it and needed to know what was coming. This book really just hit me hard with the feels and the…

This gripping tale of urban horror follows the lives of five lonely tenants - strangers - whose lives become intertwined when they discover a dark mark scrawled on the walls of their building. The horror sprouts quite innocently from a small seed and finds life as something otherworldly, damaged, full of love, hate, fear, and power. As the walls come alive, everyone is slowly driven mad - defenseless against the evil in the building, stripped of free will, leaving only confusion, chaos, and eventual death! Originally self-published as a two-volume book, this groundbreaking work receives a deluxe presentation in a hardcover edition with a sketchbook section.
I don’t read a lot of Graphic Novels, but I do enjoy them once in a while. I have come across a lot of really great ones, but unfortunately this was not one of them. The artwork was beautiful, and the story was creepy and disturbing, but it left a lot to be desired. I understand that with this type of novel, you are a bit limited, though there is no reason that it couldn’t have been a more fully developed story. Others I have read are plenty well rounded. Anyways, this is a great creepy novel for going into Halloween season. It was a short and quick read. Be forewarned though, there is much adult content in this. Not just in the blood and gore, but the subject matter to some of the tenants stories and the language are definitely more suited to an adult.
The main idea of this is that the apartment I guess has some evil roots of some sort. It slowly starts to drive the people living there mad. In really disturbing ways. There is a young couple, a grandfather and grandchild, a middle aged dude, and I can’t remember if there was anyone else, but some of their stories became very disturbing. People murdering one another in brutal ways, the thoughts in their heads going all haywire, and just totally destruction.
I’m not really sure how to review this that well since the story was a bit lacking for me. It wasn’t horrible or anything, I think I just wanted more out of it. It jumped around quite a bit and even though the stories are all kind of tied together it felt very choppy to me. I was really more as if I was getting snippets of these people totally losing it until it all came to a very anti-climatic end. I do appreciate the artistry of this novel though and would not be opposed to checking out other work from these authors.
