Xpresso Weekly: Stacking the Shelves (32)

Posted by

Xpresso Weekly is my edition of Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews featuring the books I got this week, and I also mention blog news/happenings of the past week.
This week at Xpresso Reads

December! It feels like 2 days ago that I was updating the sidebar for November. What the heck? Well at least my xmas shopping is pretty much done which is quite the feat from a last minute shopper (I went on Christmas eve 2 years in a row O_O). And talking about Christmas, how about winning a Kindle? My fellow Canadians can enter right here! And I also had the Possession blog tour stop by with 3 pretty awesome giveaways you can enter.

Reviews on the blog this week:

I received for review (Click on cover for Goodreads):

*A big thank you to YA Bound and Harlequin UK for these pretties!*

I also bought:
These were both on sale at Chapters and I just couldn’t leave em there! All These Things I’ve Done I wanted because, dude, the book is a CHOCOLATE BAR (picture below)! How wicked is that? And Beautiful Darkness is the 2nd book in the Caster Chronicles series which *gasp* I have not started yet but I do have book 1 already and with the movie coming up they will be read very soon!

Peace out, chickadees!!

Dude, you should read One Breath Away right now, because I’m about to start the audio!

Or, you know, you should do whatever you want, but…

Also, I did not like the Garcia/Stohl book I read, but apparently you liked it better. O_O

    Now I want chocolate. *forages*

  2. Jen (A Reading Daydreamer)

Ooooh, Jolene Perry’s books sound really great! I really need to start one of them. Yay for sales at bookstores! All These Things I’ve Done sounds really interesting and cool as well. I read Beautiful Creatures awhile back, and didn’t enjoy it enough to continue with the series. I hope you do! Happy reading, Giselle!

WOAH @_@ If I had known All the things I’ve done was made to look like a CHOCOLATE BAR inside the jacket, i would have bought it A LONG TIME AGO!!! LOVED Beautiful Darkness and that Blog Design is TO DIE FOR AWESOME!!! =D

    -Keep on rocking Giselle,

I was always a fan of the chocolate bar under All These Things I’ve Done. Unfortunately, I read the library version, and they protect the book by having that clear covering..so I couldn’t see the chocolate bar. *tear*

Personally I like the new covers better though.

Ooooh! I’m so happy you pointed out to me to look under the jacket on the Zevin one! So cool that it’s a chocolate bar!! It was so hard for me to walk away from the Stohl/Garcia one, it’s just so cheap! But I don’t think I’ll ever read that series, so walk away I did.

Dude, that twitter background for Alluring Reads is freaking awesome! She must have one kick ass blog!!

I’ve meant to read All The Things I’ve Done for ages and have just never gotten to it / picked it up. I love it when books are unique, and that is totally amazing. I’ll have to see if indigo.ca has the sale you found and order a copy if it does. That’s definitely something I want on my shelves and I’ve heard great things about the story.

    Have a great week! πŸ™‚

  7. BookSmartie

I have never, ever, ever regretted buying an ebook so much before. Oh my…that’s a CHOCOLATE BAR!!! πŸ˜€ I can’t believe it…somehow I just know the next thing I do is go over to Amazon.co and buy a second (hardcover) copy of All These Things I’ve done…I have to!

  8. Mel

Oh, if only it was a real chocolate bar! πŸ™‚

I think I’ll see the film before I read the Beautiful Creatures books…the books are always better and this way I get to enjoy the film rather than comparing it to the book the whole time! πŸ™‚

I still have a few Christmas books to buy but they’re only gift cards, I got everything else bought already too :)I love your designs too, they’re so pretty!
Great books too, I got captured by Chapter deals as well this week! I have that beautiful Creatures series on my wishlist for family for Christmas so maybe I’ll get it πŸ™‚ Have a good week!

Insight and One Breath Away sound amazing!! I love that All These Things I’ve Done is a chocolate bar!! I need that. I have Beautiful Creatures on audiobook and still haven’t listened to it yet. I am a bit scared to with all the mixed reviews I have heard. People seem to either really love it or really hate it. I guess I won’t know until I try. The covers for the books are gorgeous!

  11. A Backwards Story

Ack, I still need to R&R ONE BREATH AWAY this month! It’s on my pile!

I bought the sequel to ALL THESE THINGS I’VE DONE this week. Yay us! I wish the cover was like the first book, though. Such love! At least it’s still a hidden chocolate bar…

I read the first Caster book recently, but have yet to read the others myself! Gotta get on that!

  12. Nick

Your blog designs are absolutely beautiful, Giselle! You’re a real talent! πŸ™‚ If I ever want to get a blog design change, I’m definitely coming to you!

Insight has a really pretty cover! I hadn’t heard of it before, but I’m totally adding it to my to-read shelf on GR! OMG! The chocolate bar! Ha! That is so awesome! πŸ˜‰

Enjoy all your goodies, Giselle! Happy reading! πŸ™‚

I love how the book is a chocolate bar, way better than our versions over here. I have a copy of Insight that I have to get around to reading very soon.

    Check out my haul

  14. Tabitha

Hahah! A chocolate bar… That’s kind of amazing! And I need to start the Beautiful Creatures series as well. I have the second book, and that’s it!

Great haul! Hope you enjoy all of your books. (:

I really love the designs you did this week, G. I’m considering getting you to do a Twitter background for me, but the problem is that I like to change my wallpaper a lot so would I be able to get the image from you so I could switch it around if I wanted to? If so, then I will chat with you probably next month about this because my blog allowance is GONE this month already because of the giveaway books I had to ship. πŸ˜‰

Interested to see what you think of All These Things I’ve Done. I liked it but it’s not a favorite.

  16. Sam

Oh my god! I thought that was an actual giant chocolate bar for a minute there. πŸ˜› I wasn’t a big fan of that book, but I hope you have better luck! One Breath Away has been getting some great reviews so I’m looking forward to your thoughts.

    Awesome haul, Giselle!

  17. ShreShre

Insight looks super intriguing O_O and All These Things I’ve Done is an amazing novel! OF course there’s also the fact that it IS in fact a chocolate friggin’ bar! AHH!!! How cool is that!!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I had to stop myself from eating the book >.>…arhmm, but ANYWAY! Enjoy your books lovey!

I’m excited about Insight! I love Jolene Perry although I just barely learned recently she writes paranormal! LOL So I’m excited to try her paranormal series. I’ve never read Beautiful Creatures. All These Things sounds interesting especially since chocolate isn’t allowed!!! Thanks for stopping by!
